Allez merci... ik heb die tracklist samengesteld, niet Frank Verstraeten.

En ja, ik heb hard mijn best moeten doen om de Jeckyll's & Hyde's ervan te weren. De platenfirma Digidance eistte dat er bepaalde nummers opstonden. Dat is bij elke platenfirma zo. Control Freak (Sander Van Doorn) vind ik persoonlijk véél te oud om erop te staan.
It was a matter of give and take.

Waarom zoveel tracks? Omdat ze met Zillion het 'blijven-dansen' gevoel willen aanspreken. Alle tracks zijn de laatste beat in elkaar gemixt. Ik wou zelf ook liever 11 of 12 volledige tracks per CD. Maar daarover wou men niet discussieren. Dus, ofwel geen compilatie, ofwel het beste er proberen van te maken.

Nog een voorbeeld: ik wou persé ATP - Driftations erop. Maar doordat het nummer nog niet getekend was staat het er niet bij. Ik heb de finale tracklist twee weken tegen gehouden om het toch in orde te krijgen, maar het lukte niet. Soms moet een mens water bij zijn wijn doen.

En die retro CD: er staan nummers op die je nergens nog terug vind. Void - I need you (Mr. Sam's remix) of zelfs de originele At The Villa - Open your eyes.


Maar euhm.. geen probleem hoor.. de CD 14 heeft 6.000 stuks verkocht. Als je weet dat een top cd tegenwoordig 3.500 stuks verkoopt in den Belgique, tja, dan moet mijn muziek smaak toch niet zoooo slecht zijn. Ofwel?

/EDIT: did not see this was at the main forum. So excuse me for writing in Dutch. So summarize my explaination: I compiled the CD's and it was one hell of a job to get all tracks licensed. The record company obliged me to take some tracks (which all record companies do by the way) but they also took my advice seriously. So hopefully the sales are good again!

Most tracks are more or less quality; but 19 tracks and not even mixed is something I can't even talk about... There's also not a single trace of a good flow to be found.

It's not a worthy release for a trance fan; that's all I can say. Sorry.
Blame Digidance for the foolish concept then.

As far as the cd itself goes, I have to agree with Luc. I can imagine the position you're in, but for genuine trance fans like us it simply contains too much cheese and edits. We treat our music like treasures. Fortunately for the label, we're just a minority, it'll sell well enough.

The typo errors are not on the final CD. It are typo errors from the company itself. About track choice, I'm a bit surprised about reactions.

There was a time when I used to buy Zillion cd's because they were actually the best trance compilations available on the Belgian market. But that was also a time when trance was still a big thing here. Times have changed, and I think that the concept of this cd might appeal to the contemporary masses. It probably won't appeal to the true trancefans, but that's a niche the recordcompanies don't really care for anymore.

And it's indeed a sad thing when the recordcompany puts you in a position where you have to compromise and end up with a result you're not really satisfied with. Just look at the Rotationz cd, that was even cancelled because the recordcompany forced the compilers to include tracks they didn't want to use, mainly for commercial reasons...

About the track choice: as Luc pointed out, most of the tracks are ok, it's just that there's a bit of an overdose, there's too much.
