Roomate Uses Your Stuff

First time I have posted in this forum, but I have a ongoing problem and wanted to see if anyone else has gone thru this or is going thru this and how they are handling or how they handled the situation. I live with two other roomates. We have a very nice place right on the water, so leaving here because of this problem is the last thing I want to do. One of my roomates gets into my stuuff all the time. I have confronted him about this, hoping it will change, and it never does. He also does not contribute at all as far as cleaning, and does not contribute to buying things that all of us go in on like toilet paper, dishwasher detergent, etc.... I have been getting to the point were I really want to beat the shit out of him, but I know that it will only make matters worse, but still my anger is tending to get the best of me over this issue. So, I was just wondering if anyone has been thru this, and if you have could you please share. Thanks, and only mature responses please!!!

Rock On,

Mike

just tell the bastard to start paying up. and if he doesn't, then only buy stuff for you then.

ps, having your own place solves all these problems.

Yeah, I know. I did have my own place before, but I thought maybe I could save by having roomates, now I'm not saving shit cause I'm taking care of a grown ass man. Thanks for the reply.

You need to be assertive. Which means not using accusing words like "You didn't do this..", or "You should do that.."

You need to state what the problem is, and why it bothers you.

You need to state what you'd like to see change about the problem.

You need to state what outcome you'd like to see.

Pretty simple really. I would also recommend making house rules. Make up a chart that distributes household chores equally, so you ALL have a fair role in the house. Make copies for the kitchen, bathroom, etc., and put them up where EVERYONE can see them.

Tell him the next time you go shopping, he's coming. If he doesn't come, there will be no shopping. Common items, make a separate bill. After you guys come home, immediately ask him to write a check. Be very frank and express your disappointment a bit more aggressively. I know it can be difficult, but its better than silent smoldering.

Keep your room door locked when you are not around. And keep all the personal items in your room.

Do the house cleaning together. Every sunday is a cleaning day. Make it part of your routine. Divide the work. Ask him to do the toilets. Tell him you've been doing them for a while, and it's his turn. Pester him until he starts listening to you. Tell him, there'll be no cleaning if he does not contribute.

Pwn him once. If the toilet paper gets over, bring just one roll and keep it in your room. Use it, and take it back to your room. Optionally, give him some sort of laxative before playing this game. That should teach him a thing or two.

The answer depends on how far you want to take it. Roommate warfare is the dirtiest fighting known to mankind next to a religious crusade. I'd suggest a predictable and sustained tit for tat strategy in which he is fully aware of the consequences of his actions. Make your responses proportional to his offenses and see what happens...

No offence Jen but did you like...get that out of a textbook?

My friend had a problem like this, with one of his roommates. They just started cutting her off and just being assholes until finally she decided to move out.

Maybe he just wants his penis fondled by a man. Your room mate is obviously touching your stuff because he wants his stuff touched too. It's a two way street Micheal May and it's time you acted like a man & sucked his penis.
