Xone enables dj's to mix in key!

XONE ENABLES DJ’S TO MIX IN KEY

Allen & Heath, manufacturer of the leading Xone mixer range, has teamed up with US software designer, Mixed In Key, to offer new software which enables digital DJ’s to analyse and harmonise tracks.

'Xone Mixed in Key’ is Windows and MAC OS X compatible software, which analyses MP3 and .WAV files, identifies the key of a track, and highlights which other tracks are harmonically compatible. This eliminates the possibility of key clashes whilst performing live, and allows the DJ to analyse their entire music collection, discovering compatible songs.

“Xone Mixed in Key is a fantastic innovation for DJ’s, and eliminates the time-consuming and laborious task of manually detecting the root note of every track. Allen & Heath has a golden reputation in the DJ community, and we're excited to offer Xone Mixed In Key software to a wider audience,” writes Mixed In Key president, Yakov Vorobyev.

“The explosion of digital DJ’ing over the past couple of years has introduced a wealth of technical advantages to the art of DJ’ing. Xone Mixed in Key is a case in point. DJ’s have instant access to thousands upon thousands of new music files and this software can quickly and easily enable them to put tracks into musical context,” concludes Xone designer, Andy Rigby-Jones.

Xone Mixed In Key is available as a digital download at a RRP of $58 USD. Both Mac OS X and Windows versions are available.

the mixed in key program has been discussed here on the forum a lot. the guy who develops it has spammed the dj forums a lot about his program and he's been put to his place several times. there was some test on this programs done too and it showed that mixed in key was the least accurate. i did a little test myself too and found it only about 60% accurate (can't remember how accurate exactly).

Clearly A&H know about the short comings of the software.

All they need to do is get the first piece of software on the market and it quickly becomes the standard. No other big player in the market place has something like this.

Wait for v2, 3 or 4 and they'll make if a shed load more accurate. It'll remain an industry standard and they'll cash in big time.

I see it as a shrewd business move on A&H's part.

Yeah I'm wondering if they pumped a bit of money into it to get the key detection algorithm much better, you'd want at least 95% accuracy if you're going to pay for it (100% would be nice).

Its a good move if they get the algorithm much better, and a really bad one if they can't.

Hahah, well. That's funny. I remeber the guy here sniping every thread about keys and just advertising his program. Quite funny.

I can sorta see why Xone partnered up like that but I think it's a bit useless. Oh well.
