this is common in most peoples mixes. Its very rarely you will get two tracks that wont need slight adjustment when mixing. while im mixing im always adjusting the pitch its just part of the djing.

just keep riding the pitch...if uve practiced enough, you should be able to know which 1 is going faster or slower...make your adjustments accordingly. i tend to ride the pitch on the track that im transitioning out of...it seems to me that if your a second or so late...its not that very noticeable due to the fact that its not as loud as the track im throwing in

yea never adjust the track playing that would sound utter shit. i play with the pitch of the incoming track until i drop the bass on it and cut the bass of the outgoing track then start riding the pitch on the outgoing track.

EXACTLY.

I also make pitch corrections BEFORE I actually hear the drift occuring (because I KNOW they drifting) - stay ahead of the drift!

...make sure you always know which way the tracks are drifting, then just keep bending in the opposite direction. of course if you bend too much, you end up having to bend the other way, which can throw you off guard.

with 0.02 cdj pitch adjustment, you can stay 1 min in front of your turntables without doing anything to correct. thats not true in vinyl, vinyl is not prefect, you will always have to readjust them.

next to that, with the resolution of TT-pitch/fader its never possible to EXACTLY beatmatch 2 tracks for as long as a track lasts. even if the resolution of your pitch-control on your TT's is for example to 1/100th accurate (which it aint, but hypothetically), youll never get 2 tracks beatmatched for as long as 2 tracks last. u can however keep em accurate enough for 2 or 3 minutes, but eventually, 1 will run out of the match ..

its a question of practice. when i started beatmatching, i thought i would be the 1st on this planet to never learn. fact is that i learned it in some 4 months (i used to plractice 1 or 2 hrs a day). this doesnt however mean that i can always find the proper pitch for an incoming track (in time). its VERY hard to control beatmatching 100% ..

I just got some CDJ1000s, it's taken me about 4 days to get to grips with beatmatching on them, very different from a pair of Techs.

BUT, once you've got the beats locked, well, everything is so predictable. Say for example you can hear the beat go out very slightly over 30 seconds. All you have to do is knock it up .02% after 15 seconds and down .02% after another.

Everything takes care of itself.

I do miss vinyl though - but I wouldn't swap back now.

is it easier to learn beatmatching on CDJ then on a TT? or is it because u use the BPM indicators on the CDJ's? that makes it so simple even a deaf child can learn it
