iDANCE!!!!!!!!!! BAD BOY BILL played the best set in TO history @ this event, hands fucking down! When everyone pulled out the lightas, it was some sight to see. I wish they had more angles of the video.
Correction, 19,000+ strong. Watching this makes me so sad ... if I had a chance to rewind anything in my life, it would be those yrs. I really wish T.O didn't had to go through this, our scene would be just as big as Europe, maybe even bigger. Remember, the festivals over there are massive and they happen once a yr for each region ... but, we drew in 19,000+ once a month and around 8,000+ every weekend.
RIP Alan and everyone else who passed away that yr from our scene.

Great find Emery! Glad to be reminded of iDance again.
It is a travesty that these type of parties can't be thrown in Toronto anymore. When the public consultations/hearings were going on I met with my councilor/MPP, I forwarded them information the Australian/New Zealand rave act and encouraged them to adopt something similar to the Aussie/NZ protocol.
I think much of the blame should be laid on the promoters/event organizers's moral turpitude and/or questionable business practices and less with the government being overly protectionist.
IMO - in the late 90s/early 2000 Toronto party organizers did too little, too late to ensure safety, order and reasonable care at their events. Only when it looked like they would have government interference (regulation) did they finally take the issue of safety, drugs, license, capacity, security, etc. seriously. Unfortunately by that time the event organizers/promoters were in no position to be trusted to regulate themselves.
Like any industry - if the stakeholders don't act in a responsible manner, government gets involved and fucks everything up. This is a really good example of such.
Good luck getting anything changed now. No MPP or councilor is going to propose changing any laws or regulations relating to these types of things.
