The best advice to you, is to save more money than $500. If it's that hard for you to get more than that kind of cash than it's even more of a mistake to go with the CMX3000.

Are you just beginning or have you been mixing with cd's for a while and just on a budget?

In my opinion however, you'll be making a mistake by just jumping into something now that you can afford instead of saving up for what you really wan't/need.

But the CMX3000 isn't a Gemini product, its Pioneer. But I have been thinkin about the CDJ200's they seem reliable and to the point. And I would hate to have to set up a rack mount system, its so tacky lookin. I'd try to sell my gemsound 525's but i doubt id get shit for em.

Mixing with single deck, vs. dual deck players is much more fun IMO. It's closer to mixing with vinyl. I would recommend the CDJ 200s. I own the CDJ 1000 MK2s, but if I would go back two years ago..I probably would have saved some money buying the CDJ 200s. The only disadvantage to the CDJ 200s that I found...was the platter. It's wobbly, and tiny and doesn't emulate vinyl like the CDJ 1000 and 800s do. The player itself is also quite small, which makes it nice to add if you have limited space, like if you already have some TTs and want to add some CD players. But if all your doing is mixing, and not scratching or any fancy looping, the CDJ 200 is all you need.

I'm interested in knowing the REAL downsides of a dual CD player. Everybody can say CDJ200 FTW but nobody can prove it.

What is the pitch increment adjustment on the 3000? I'm sure its not .02% like the big money CDJ's but is it tolerable?

Are the cueing functions appropriate or do they suffer from lag like some of the dual CD players?

What other features are missing? Effects? Loops? Etc?

To the original poster.... check out the CDJ100's. They are dirt cheap used.

the cmx3000 as far as duals go are pretty good. u get wave form display, 0.05 pitch resolution and scratch play.

having never used a pair of these i cant comment on there funtionality, but using other duals in the past ive found the pitch sliders and jog wheels a bit small. because of this the scratch play seems a little off putting and gimmicky. i like the idea of wave form display, also the slot loading mech, unusal for rackmounts.

you also get loops and hot cues too. the only downfall to them is they are a little bit outdated and havnt had an update like most of the other pioneers cd decks.

they have all the features but are maybe a little cramped for some. i cant see them being a bad purchanse, but ive just not heard of many peole who own or have used them.

I've been using the 3000's for over a year and messed around with other pio's aswell. The 0.05% pitch works like a charm for me. I never had a problem holding a beatmatch for several minutes.. never understood why someone "must" have 0.02% pitch, but maybe it's just me.
