Anyone know whether they'll give you a student discount even if the university isn't listed in their schools list? Last time I got a Macbook the guy helping me out was kind enough to give me the discount despite the fact that the school was not on the Apple list.
I'm considering getting an iMac tomorrow with Logic and need to know if they'll do it like last time.
edit: By the way this is in-store purchase not online.
Merci

Depends where you go. Back when I worked for a mac vendor we'd accept any valid student ID, I don't remember being required to check the school against a list, but then they might work differently nowadays.

Well the guy checked it in one of his handy dandy electronic scanner things which happened to have a list of schools. But thanks, I'll give it a try anyway and see how it goes.

Either way you've got nothing to lose in trying.

Yea they should and may even add the school into the system.
Does the discount apply to iPhones or just computers?

I wouldn't see why not. If they can give you a student discount on an iPod I would suppose you could get one on the iPhone as well. Maybe someone will clarify this.

if you are looking to buy alot of equipment, join the apple student developer program. I think it's like $50 to join, but the discounts you get are SIGNIFICANT. People sell this information on ebay. No I'm not scamming... look into it yourself. For an ipod or something small, it's not every worth it. But if you're going to spend $1000+... take a look at it. It's somewhere on the apple website.
