OK I don't speak German, and the site is shit, so can someone give me the low-down on this event?

What date is it this year?

How long does it last?

Is it possible to just camp in a tent somewhere?

Is there much trance?

Cheers.

its on the 13th July I think and it´s motto is Access Peace.
The parade itself last for the whole day, from 1 pm till 11 pm i think, but the party will go on in one of the MANY clubs.
Berlin is a big city, so u can´t come with ur tent into the town and camp somewhere *g* probally there are some campingplaces outside from Berlin.
Loveparade features a lot of styles, but i think most is more Techno than Trance, because the most German DJs spin this.

for some news in your language check this side out:

Thanks for the info guys.

I might not bother with accomodation, and just get there in time for the start, party the day away, party the night away, and come back to England.

That should save money.

Am I right in thinking the Love Parade is the biggest rave in the world?

10 hours long seems a bit short, Glastonbury is on for 3 days and 3 nights.

I'm asking these questions very early because I'm in two minds about going, and need to decide how much money to save etc. I want to go because it's the biggest in the world (I think), however, if it's not all it's cracked up to be I can always go to the British Love Parade, Gatecrasher Summer Sound System, Godskitchen Global Gathering, Creamfields, Glastonbury, or Homelands, which are all massive events with all the best DJs.

So it's not vital that I go, but man, I really wanna go to the biggest party in the world

I know you guys aren't from the UK, but can anyone tell me what's the best (cheapest) way to get to Berlin. I could fly, get the ferry and then make my way to Berlin, or get an awfully long coach ride to London and through the tunnel to France and then to Germany ( ).

Any advice appreciated.

In all the pictures I see, noone is actually dancing. What's up with that???

Surely the music can't be all that loud if it's just trucks with speakers on top dotted around??

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but it would really clean me out of cash if I went to this, so it needs to be worth it. 10 hours seems damn short.

Has anyone been to this event before? How long are the after-parties and how much did you pay to get in?

Ok, there is no-one dancing, 'cause there is little room + barely any music

at the LP the music is barely noticable for quite some time.. when you get close to the Siegessäulte (thingy that pokes into the sky), you will hear more, since they have speakers all around.. but then you get into the problem with 4 DJ's spinning different tracks from different directions..

I have been to the LP twice (2000 + 2001) and I must say this:
If you go for the loveparade, you might enjoy it a bit the first time, but the second time around i went for one and ONLY one thing:
THE PARTIES AROUND it..
seriously, I went to the actualy LP for like 3-4 hours (5-8pm) and then got supper/ changed and went out to where the real fun is at..
the parties around are SOLID!
I have been disappointed once, but the oranization was crap and I should have left and gone somewhere else, but apart form that, the three other parties were majorly cool.

As I said, I went to the LP last year (the actual event) because I felt like I 'had' to, since I was in Berlin.. but I went to Berlin for the parties around the LP

I will have a good look around that site, thanks!

drizzt81, what do you mean by the parties "around" it? Are you talking about after-parties at all the clubs etc?

Or parties in the suburbs of/outside of Berlin?

Bear in mind, I'll be in a city I've never been to, in a country I've never been to, surrounded by a million people who speak a different language to me. I think I'll find it a bit harder to find there "other" parties than you did

I will go to this thing if I can party the day away and party the night away until I can't take any more. There's no way I'm emptying my bank and going all the way to Berlin to listen to techno for 8 hours.

Are there after parties going on literally all night and all of the next day? And are these parties hard to find/expensive?

Been there twice... and definately going again this year! The parade itself is not all that, but when darkness falls and some of the worlds best DJ's are spinning 20 minute sets right after eachother at the Siegessaule... man that is thrilling!!! I actually get goosebumps then...

There are so many pre- and afterparties, you can't count 'em... some freaks even throw a party on the street... some preparties already start the monday before, and the last afterparties are usually on monday or tuesday... I've never been there a whole week though... just the day and the night of the parade... Can't tell you much about the afterparties. I went to No-Ufos the first time and liked it so much that I went there again the next year... that's really my kind of party I think I paid about 25-30 Euro for it... which is an average price for an afterparty ticket... At the first No-Ufo's I went to they had Paul Oakenfold at the decks But besides that, very little Trance... mostly techno, but since there are a lot German trance producers nowdays maybe this year we'll have more trance... And ofcourse we still have PvD...

thus I must probably know, how it goes off on the loveparade, because I live in this city since my birth. the loveparade does not only take place at this one day. rather it is an extended weekend, where everywhere correctly which goes off. the main meeting is on Saturday of 14.00Uhr to 23.30Uhr. but already meet rather off to before it gehts in many clubs, and also thereafter. I have already for many years the same operational sequence on this weekend.
> > completely particularly to recommend, the large party of Paul van Dyk on the day before the parade (thus Friday), who already takes place for many years always in the same lokation, is almost legendary (> to "you certain The love from Above).sets and videos of it already once saw. for me that is the actual high point loveparade. however otherwise continues it extremely strongly the whole weekend. after the loveparade on Saturday in the zoo one can further-celebrate in approx. 100 clubs or on one of the innumerable open airs in or outside of Berlin. on this weekend also the police is tendency quite good, and pushes shut already times an eye.

CU...... at the LOVEPARADE
