my opinion
I am liking the use of your percussion, first of all...perhaps you can add some other elements to fatten up the groove a little bit, give it some more groove. Perhaps some sort of percussion that falls between each kick drum beat, I believe they call it da-cappo or something like that..it would add some groove-energy to the drums.
Also, I like how the bassline enters, but does it it have enough energy? Not sure, as I am listening to it via your myspace player, and not a full version. I wish I could give you more tips on fattening up that bass, but I am working on that as well with my own productions. Can you give it more bottom end with an EQ? What else?
You mentioned lacking a synth or melody, right? Well, listen to some proggy and trance tunes with melodies that you really dig...try to search for some inspiration. I think a simple melodic ditty to interweave nicely with the groove you hace created would suit the track well...but in my opinion keep it simple.
Hope my observations have helped...
anyone else?
