Hello! DJ Mixing but on PC

hey everyone i know that ur not a true DJ if u mix with PC... thats not what this post is about...

I like to muck about with Mixmeister v3

its cool but i think it has a bottle neck.. i wouldn't mind adding a small sample here and there.. or maybe a loop but this sort of thing Mixmeister wasn't built for...

Ive heard little of this Verstax or sumthing like that its called.. im interested but remmeber PC wise... since i have a stack of MP3's in need of mixing for fun...

Anyways.. all ur help is most appreciated...

Try PCDJ Red (www.pcdj.com) or Traktor (do a search in Altavista). At least with PCDJ you can create and play loops.

The fact you are using your computer to mix doesnt meen you are not a real DJ.
Thats why the term CJ exists which stands for: Computer Jockey, CJs produce and mix thier music using computers.
Even Plastic Angel himself mixed the latest Dream Dance CD with Traktor.

Traktor DJ Studio is the best mixing software out there -- it blews PCDJ out of water and the upcoming version 2.0, which is going to be released in June, will completely dominate.

I agree, BUT, if you are using a PC with an external mixer, as I do, PCDJ is a lot better because:

1. It looks like a hardware cd-player, interface much easier to use
2. The recordcase-system is much better
3. Automatic beatmatching is for kids

traktor and PCDJ.. hehe

check out atomixmp3... IMHO it blows both the above out of the water.

Looping, effects, skins, stability, external mixer support, beat waveform display, auto beat/bpm/level matching, integrated shoutcast broadcasting and recording, configurable shortcuts... i dig it.

personally, i find VTT to be an excellent proggy when using an external mixer. its got BPM calculation abilities (if yer still learning), multiple cue points, and it acts very much like cd-decks. i used to use DeeJaySystem MKI, but the free version has a limitation on pitch control which makes it very hard to synchronize tracks. for the beginner i'd recommend either of those proggys.

i do agree that traktor kicks major a$$, but i've never gotten it to work with an external mixer (which is how i prefer to mix). and i'm still on the lookout for a good piece of mixing software for linux.

...my $0.02...

For that matter... any good audio software for linux would be cool... anyone use linux for audio stuff? tell us about it

OK for mixing on the PC I use BPM Studio Pro 4.
I have 2 sound cards loaded and I use an external mixer.
I, in the most part, mix 44.1khz wav's or mp3's >= 256kpbs.

Regards

Stella

I mix sets manually using Cool Edit Pro. That is, I take all the tracks I want to be on the cd, and standardize them all to the same BPM (using time stretch), and then I cut and "mix paste" the beginning and end portions of them to overlap one another, and then I have the cd!! It takes a while to do, but it results in a PERFECT mix. i.e. NO errors.

So what does that make me? an old skool computer dj?
