Wintering down under

So here is the deal... I might be going to work for about 8 weeks in Australia. This will be at some point in May and August. This will be my first time going over there, and I HAVE NO IDEA what to expect.
How are the people, weather, party scene, drugs, crime....you get the idea...
how is the electronic music scene? im more into minimal, techno, progressive, trip hop, dub, acid jazz... do you guys get toured a lot? a local scene?

ok enough... feel free to elaborate, i think this could be a good trip

What city?

If you're talking about Sydney...

The people are ok but it all depends on where you go and who you talk to. Australia is touted as a very friendly country and that is true, but there is still plenty of people that are so damn arrogant and have a pole stuck up their ass.

The weather is great. It has been a bit weird lately but Sydney's weather is the best in Feb/March anyway.

Great party scene. If you come here anywhere between March-July, you will have plenty of trance events to go. It's looking like a great year already.

Drugs...well, depends on if you want them or not. There's not a huge problem with them even though the media hypes it up, but you can easily get some if that's your thing.

Crime is rather low here. Know what areas to keep out of, don't act all tough and you'll be fine.

Hmm...just noticed you like the other spectrum of EDM more. Sydney has alot of variety and you will find even more events that suit your tastes.

thx!
yea..sydney...very typical of me leaving the most important part out...

it sounds like a very exciting place. also i think i could take this opportunity to do some stuff outdoors... australia must be the place for that.
hopefully i'll have good luck with the people, at the end its what usually makes my experience a pleasant one or not...

Hola!

People are as down to earth as you can get. Weather is pretty mild all year round. Party scene is off the hook, although a little behind in certain departments. Melbourne is party capital of Australia - in fact, the BEST city in Australia, so you must check it out there.
Drugs are much more expensive than what you would pay there. It's a rip off big time. Crime...as long as you're not in Sydney's western suburbs you should be fine.

As for EDM, there is something for everyone...whatever floats your boat...

Check out these party sites for more info:

buena suerte!
