Sad Beat structure.... I having no luck

To put it plain and simple "I dont get beat structure" I read about it on Recess Site but the example is missing.... Thus does anyone have any examples or text that I may learn from? Thanks

The only way you can understand anything is by practising and getting your hands dirty. Get a pair of cheap decks, a decent mixer and some tunes; you'll know what beat structrures are in a jiffy!

The simplest, tidiest idea in production will help you so much in DJing!

DL fruityloops and play with it a bit!

U got that right!
I'm learning Piano right now... The only thing that's better than DJing is DJing while giving a live performance!

Just listen to music, and beat structure will come to you. You're looking at 4 or 8 bar phrases, with 4 beats in a bar... I don't think the match is that difficult to try and find out how many beats that is.

Yeah, I'm learning the piano now too, and I already play a brass instrument.

i'm fairly knowledgable about beat structure, i used to play drums and knowing theory about different time phrase structures helps a lot i guess if you're trying to produce.. if you're just wanting to know about how beat structure works for mixing, just keep it simple w/ the usual 8 bar phrases w/ 4 beats in each bar as mentioned above..

I have never been involved with drums or beats or piano lessons when I was young. The only way I learnt was by getting my hands dirty and purchasing a pair of decks.

well... i don't think that getting on the decks requires any previous musical knowledge.. as long as you like music and you can tell what you want your sound to be like, then hit the decks and figure it out.. my friend that mixes is pretty good and he has no musical talent at all (like tone def or something).. well he can spin and i consider that musical talent so i guess i can't say he has no talent.. point is, just practice and you'll get it!
