Anyone here dig Jung?

So I found myself (not surprisingly) struck by how relevant and utterly timeless this man's brilliant works really are as I made my way through "Modern Man In Search Of A Soul" and I found myself thinking: I wonder what my fellow TA's think about him?

Carl Jung was stunningly brilliant, and I don't think I've ever encountered a great thinker that I so personally valued. Over the past years - 5 or 6 now - he's been like a guide to me, helping me to navigate many treacherous scenarios that I've found myself in, allowing me to better understand the contents of my own mind and ultimately helping to shape the path of my adulthood. His works have made a profoundly positive impact on the direction that my life has taken, and if he were alive today, I'd wish nothing more than to shake his hand and thank him for his contribution to the tapestry of our collective experience.

Also brilliant: Edinger, "Ego and Archetype". Seriously. Check it out.

Anyways, just thought I'd through it out there.

Last year I asked my Valentine to be my subconsious projection of the anima archetype.

I then spent valentine alone.

ALone? Or were you accompanied by your shadow... which just happened to make itself known at that key moment?

I really need to pick up ego and archetype and finish it. the first few chapters blew my mind, but then I was busy with school and never got around to the rest.

"Especially you" I said.
"You are virtually the ring leader, the way I see it."
Then, I blew out the candle.

He among other philosophers are brilliant and extremely underutilized. It's a shame they don't make that mandatory material/classes in highschool or even simplify it for the elementary school level.

I perceive Jung's perspective as a circle, encompassing the vastness and depth of the human mind and human mythology, whilst I perceive Freud's perspectives to be laser like, finite and ultimately piercing through darkness... yet leaving the darkness around it unexplored and subsequently a source of problematic confounding variables.

Jung's standpoints simply address my own subjective life experiences more accurately, hence I find him to be of more relevance to myself.

Regardless, I think a truly valuable approach is to examine both. Jung often remarked about the extremely important contributions Freud has made to the as still infantile state of psychological science - and it would be foolish to discount one for the other in entirety.

If you haven't read anything about Jung's theories and general investigations, I highly recommend!
