New mixer

hi guys

im thinking about upgrading my mixer in a few months time and want to know what to look out for, my current setup is this:

2 CDJ800mk2s
Behringer DJX700

the behringer is ok but i cant stand the fader curves or the cheap build, and the sound quality isn't much to write home about either

i mix all types of trance so like smooth mixes, instant cuts etc and the behringers curves just arentt right for me, nothing happens between 1 and 7 then 7-10 bam - too loud

i want something with:

5 channels (can be split between one channel and switched if you know what i mean)
good sound quality
smooth or adjustable fader curve
long faders (not mandatory but would be nice)
good EQ (it seems at the moment the bass one controls 90% of the track)
no more than about £300 - can be secondhand, i was thinking a secondhand xone 32 maybe?

any advice would be much appreciated - thanks

hey there. well im not sure if youll be able to find many (if any at all) mixers that have adjustable eq curve (i could be wrong though) but i highly recommend the Vestax VMC-004XL for what you're looking for. the one thing that doesnt match your criteria is that there are only 2 settings for the channel faders and the smoothest one is still similiar to what you were describing above. to be perfectly honest though I dont think anyone will tell you that its not a great mixer to play on for a beginner bedroom dj. maybe you can look into a used DJM400? or if you could hold out a little longer and just save up to get an djm800. maybe its just entirely out of the question because of your budget but i would just say save save save and go for it.

oops i meant adjustable fader curve sorry

i will look into the vestax but saving for a djm800 is so tempting , how do the filters compare to the xones? is it possible to pull off nice mixes using just them and no EQ?

thanks

i wouldnt rely on the filters instead of the EQ. i love the sound especially since the hi/lo filter has a nice resonance on it but its not the same as A&H and if thats what your looking for the 92 or 3D is what you need. however the EQ itself on the 800 is very slick great sounding.

Do NOT get xone32. It's worst designed mixer ever. (And I'm a xone fan)

sure nutsan,but the price....mhmmmmmm
for the type of mixer and for the price i prefer the XONE:92
I have tryed it (the tascam X9) but have the faders too much imprecise, also the xone:92 have a limiter inside for all the channel (you don't clip when u play music or rec music)

it wasn't a suggestion, it was answering vero's question. u can pick them up for around £600. ive seen b-stock on them for for as little as £300.
