Alright I know this may seem like somewhat of a rather ODD question but:

For those of you that have been there/live there what are some nice things to do during the summer season?

At around June-July?

My friend and I are planning on going for a week or two and I wanna take into consideration all the things there are.

I know it may seem just a tad bit too early but rather plan ahead than be dissapointed, any input is great!

an week is a loooong time to spend in amsterdam, too much i think


1 day to shop around....
1 day to smoke up
1 day to see van gogh museum/heiniken experience...

thats preatty much all u need.

it's more historical sites and the likes as mario mentioned, besides weed and maybe taking in a game of football, which in those months would be hard, July has the amsterdam tournament i think with ajax + 3 other teams from world football. two weeks in Amsterdam is hardcore. As has been suggested, make it a Europe trip, especially combine it with a little visit to Belgium (Antwerp+Brussels) and Paris isn't that far away either.

I'm actually moving to A-Dam next week, but if you have the time, hit Berlin for sure. Check out the Heineken museum, Rijksmuseum, and Vondelpark (in Amsterdam). In Berlin, the best way to see the city is by a walking tour that starts near the entrance to the old main train station. Google "walking tours Berlin" and you should be able to find something. The one that I went on was a half day, and f-ing amazing.

They're both amazing cities.

Dance Valley is in July, as is the Extrema festival.

I'm not sure about the football. You may have to settle for lower ranked teams than Ajax. I'd also like to catch a top league game but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get tickets.

yes, infront of that coffee place... they sell some bomb beagles which are perfect to eat before u start on ur walk in berlin.. those tours were bomb.

I lived there for 3 months back in 2000, had a sweet little apartment with some friends. There's plenty to do, aside from the major tourist type activities. If you can, get to know some locals - They will be able to tell you heaps of interesting things to do that you probably wouldn't think of yourself

On the contrary. You don't have anything to lose by even just travelling to any of the countries mentionned. You only have experience and perspective to gain

Travelling isn't for everyone either. Hell, I've never lived abroad before, so this is a huge leap of faith.

But fuckit, I'm going to make it work because I'm determined to.

If you're from the states, you likely cannot get dual citizenship like I have., But hey, if you can get European citizenship, fuck you US one and more to Europe

You'll only know if travelling is for you, once you do it. Europe is a great place to start since the language and culture barrier isn't as challenging as say China, Japan, or south America. but fwiw, Japan is an amazing place, and I need to go back there someday.

my flight for Berlin is leaving in about 4 hours and I haven't had a wink of sleep
