1st Gig, Woo!

I always see threads titled "My first gig" and the like, and i've always been like when's it going to be my turn, huh? I guess it was about now

hehe...

Anyway i got a gig at this place where they usually spin some of the harder styles including hard-trance and hardstyle and such...

i usually spin house or trance but on occasion i have a good bit of fun spinning some harder stuff, a little harder trance mixed with some tecy stuff and some more techno-ish stuff...anyway, just wanted to know is there any banging tracks i really MUST play? And also, any great advice for first gig (i know about taking a shit before going on ) ?

Thanks guys...

congrats!

I'm not much into the harder styles, but one track I'd definitely play is Gleave - Lights Out 8)

Bring lots of records. You never know what the crowd may ask for during your first set there. Once you get used to the sound that works in the club then you can bring a smaller pool of more-focused tunes with you.

Have fun. Don't beat yourself up over a trainwreck

Decide in advance, what your first 3 tracks will be... but do it 15 mins before going on.
Carry lots of music, but make a list of your "must play tonight tracks"... you'll be nervous... and in a panic, "what do I play now" situation... you can go to this list.

Very imp... Make eye contact with the crowd, and smile a lot. Body language is important... pl don't be a corpse with your head in the mixer... look up lots and identify people who're getting off on your music and maintain eye contact with them.

If you make mistakes, rember they're just that. Move on, you'll find the dancefloor is forgiving... and if you're having fun, it'll spread to them.

and, congratulations.

+1 to the congratulation...I can say that many of these things are true...plus if you have anyone who you know going, then smile and wave at them...it will make the crowd think that you're down to earth, actually please don't wave to strangers...

try to relax a little bit before you go there too...that helps a lot definitely...no stress please if you can help the crowd have some fun they'll forgive even the wooooooooooorst (Tiësto like) trainwreck

and the last but not least...have lots of fun, talk to people comming up to your booth etc...be a part of the crowd and you'll know where to take them

lots of luck to you

dude that's awesome...one thing i do to help kick off my set on the right foot is to make sure that first crossfade goes perfect.

take your time to get the tracks matched first before you go live...takes a little pressure off you at the start & helps settle the nerves - for me anyway.

I like to say: your next fade is always your most important fade!

HAVE FUN & KICK ASS!
