We had a lot of fun last night. The vibe was certainly on the plus side. We got there about midnight and it seemed to be pretty packed. We hit up the patio and found Bob M looking like super mario without the mustache :-)
anyways... we hit the dance floor about 12:30 to wait for BT. I dont recall who the opening act was but they were totally killing the vibe. mixing (sorta) some deep proggy house with some really long strange breakdowns left everyone standing there looking at each other. blah.
BT came on, and super duper rocked it... however I was SO ANNOYED by the lighting setup, I had a hard time enjoying it. Details:
The main room was dark. The only ambient light was coming from the neon lights around the exterior windows, and the two pink pars that were illuminating the go-go girlies. They had these 4 vertical LED bars mounted to the sides of the DJ table.. and when they lit up, they were brighter than the coming of god or whatever. Your eyes were adusted for the dark, and it pretty much burned the retina right out of your eye. The follow up problem, there was not one light pointed at BT. you couldnt see his face or anything from the dancefloor, just a dark silhouette. now, its no big deal really... but for someone else who might have paid $25-30 to see BT, might have been pissed. i've never been to a higher profile show and they didn't have even a simple light on the headlining DJ. a reading light clipped to the truss would have done the job. oh well, get em next time.
Again, overall good time. congrats to Red for a successful night.
