*** BT Review ***

WOW. Just got back and I gotta say Red has done an unbelievable job making Arena like home again. I haven't seen the Arena THAT packed in years.

The opening DJ didn't do that much for me, but when BT came on, the place was jumping. He threw down some classics like "Flaming June" "Love Comes Again" and "Forces of Gravity" - all my faves. I was totally melting under his music. And of course Fei-Fei kept the night PUMPING.

Overall, one of the greatest nights I've had in awhile. Did everyone else have a good time too? Photos? Vids? Please post. Thanks!

what a great show!

Those opening dj's were playing SO FREEKING hard at 10pm... and there were 2 people on the dance floor...

Unfortunately, as the night progressed and it got closer to magical BT hour I witnessed some of the worst mixing and flow from them, it was pretty bad....

BT absolutely brought it! He had to transition out of the opening dj's who were pretty much playing some housey kinda weird styles.. (maybe someone introduced them to ernesto. can't blame em.) so he played some houseyer tracks then moved into Dreaming and Sonumbulast(spell check?) after that it was awesome...

Arena was packed!!

We had a lot of fun last night. The vibe was certainly on the plus side. We got there about midnight and it seemed to be pretty packed. We hit up the patio and found Bob M looking like super mario without the mustache :-)

anyways... we hit the dance floor about 12:30 to wait for BT. I dont recall who the opening act was but they were totally killing the vibe. mixing (sorta) some deep proggy house with some really long strange breakdowns left everyone standing there looking at each other. blah.

BT came on, and super duper rocked it... however I was SO ANNOYED by the lighting setup, I had a hard time enjoying it. Details:

The main room was dark. The only ambient light was coming from the neon lights around the exterior windows, and the two pink pars that were illuminating the go-go girlies. They had these 4 vertical LED bars mounted to the sides of the DJ table.. and when they lit up, they were brighter than the coming of god or whatever. Your eyes were adusted for the dark, and it pretty much burned the retina right out of your eye. The follow up problem, there was not one light pointed at BT. you couldnt see his face or anything from the dancefloor, just a dark silhouette. now, its no big deal really... but for someone else who might have paid $25-30 to see BT, might have been pissed. i've never been to a higher profile show and they didn't have even a simple light on the headlining DJ. a reading light clipped to the truss would have done the job. oh well, get em next time.

Again, overall good time. congrats to Red for a successful night.

BT was amazing! I had a great time! Wasn't expecting the show to be that good, but BT totally blew me away...

His set started something like this:
Electro House -> Prog -> Breaks -> BT productions -> and went back and forth in some order like that. It was so awesome to hear many of his productions on a big system, and to be played by him made it that much more special. All the negative things people have said about him were untrue and completely went out the door for me last night, he's a totally down-to-earth, mellow, and enthusiastic guy who LOVES his job. The mini "VIP" meet-up with him afterward was pretty nice too, kind of short, but better than nothing. This was my favorite gig of 2007 thus far. And it was great seeing all the usual suspects out there - you know who you are!

Some tracks I remember:
BT feat. JC Chasez - Force Of Gravity (Ferry Corsten Bootleg remix)
BT - Flaming June
BT - Dreaming (remix?)
Tiesto feat. BT - Love Comes Again (Original)
BT - Somambulist (Junkie XL remix)
Some funky electro stuff, prog, and breaks.

Thanks to all those that came out to RED last night. I know the night started out a bit slow but once it got going, it was ON!
Thanks for the positive BT views and glad you all had a good time.

Til next time... smile and keep on dancing!

I had so much fun on Friday @ Red. I went with a co-worker who just recently started listening to EDM, and she had a blast. BT did not disappoint, and I danced my ass off. Godspeed was the higlight of my night. Fei-Fei's closing set was great. This was the first time I have seen Fei-Fei in action and will definitely make it out to LA to see her again.

anybody know the DJ that opened that night? i was asking around, even Bob, but nobody seemed to know. i liked his set too!
