Man I wish there were more discussion about DJ skills, tips, tricks, and techniques.

Everytime I check this forum I hope there is a new thread about DJ'ing...whether it be some tips or tricks or just basic techniques people find usefull. Ive been at it for over a year now, and still feel like I have a lot to learn. I know there are somethings I have figured out that make certain aspect of DJ'ing a lot easier...I just wish more poeple would post about thier techniques. And wish there would be more discussion in general about these.

Anyway, this is just my rant hoping to strike some conversation!

You learn things by doing them, not by reading about them.

Though I don’t think that’s entirely correct it does hold a lot of truth. Reading about things does help, but unless you try things out yourself it's no good! That’s why DJ’ing is an ART not a SCIENCE!

i personally pick up on tricks and tips by making misstakes. i screw around when im mixing for practice. i wait way too long to begin beat matching to test my skill.. i screw around, change bpm, start records at wierd times, etc. id say 85% of the time i screw up but every now and then i find something cool!!

Ask away! We'll be glad to exchange ideas. I wouldn't say help, coz we're ALL still learning.

The best way to hear about tips, tricks or just general advice is to ask questions. If there's something in particular that you want to know......ask. If you have nothing specific in mind....well...start a thread asking DJs what they have learned that really helped them out...or something like that.Asking questions is the best way to get answers.

DJ LIQUID---you said that you've been spinning for 5 years and still don't know everything. Well....I've been spinning since 1978 and I still learn new stuff every day. I don't think there ever comes a time when you "know it all". Things are constantly changing and therre's always something new to learn.

Man I don't believe it! You've been spinning since 1978? That's the year I was born!
