I am thinking about buying a Macbook. For those who have one, could you tell me how your experience with it has been? Plus, I never had a Mac, will the transition be harsh?? Could you please let me informed about the pros and the cons of using a Macbook.
thanks a lot
Ps. If you have other laptop solution, please feel free to suggest!

PC user for pretty much all my life, just got myself a Mac Book, it makes all my media, art, digicam shit 100x easier...plus has built in applications that offer up some cool effects, image resizing without having to open PS. It's just a neat little bundle of joy that i can take around when travelling the world etc.
I still use a PC for all my programming and work stuff, but all media goes to the macbook. Go get yours!

Pros:
-simplistic (a big plus for laptops)
-stable
-good performance
-good interface
Cons:
-limited software
-it's a mac (you'll pay three times what it's worth initially and then ridiculous fees for any kind of maintenance and/or upgrades later on)
-there's nothing it can do that a non-mac can't do just as well if you have the patience to learn to use it properly

Except logic, final cut pro, soundtrack pro etc etc etc... Limited software my ass. Maybe limited games and limited useless windows apps that take up ram and only serve one small function... sure...
As for them being more than what they're worth, that's subjective. I'd pay more for the benefits of using a mac and am planning on doing so soon.

I'm tired of windows. I read more about Windows vista and i think it's ridiculous to buy the new vista now on a laptop...i mean, vista isn't even working correctly. Secondly, I need a laptop pretty soon. Third, let's face it, it is fucking hot. It beats any pc laptop looks. I plan on doing photoshop and watch movies (better monitor quality on mac)....

i do however believe movies will be the same quality on a pc or mac providing your cpu meets the hardware requirements

While mac emulation is pretty shakey so far, it's just in it's infancy and I wouldn't be surprised if it's perfected in not too long. If windows can run without trouble on a mac I dont see why mac OS can't be run on a PC composed of the same parts. It's just a matter of time.

or you can completely geek the fuck out like me and have both going on a 19" wide monitor -- butters/leopold started a thread about vDesktops in the tech forum, i just run both OS's at the same time and use my VGA-DVI switch on my LCD to flip between my macbook and xp
you could also run WinXP on a macbook via bootcamp if you want to keep things really concise

Macbook pro maybe. The original macbook's image is pretty mediocre, not to mention the screen is only 13.3

Yeah so maybe 5+ years until it's stable enough to run an app like final cut pro without some serious issues... it's not a permanent solution anyways and it doesnt look like mac will be making pc versions any time soon (especially considering they stopped making logic for pcs some time ago)
I run final cut pro on a dual 2ghz g5 at school and still have issues because the fucking thing is so powerful. Some emulator is just gonna be shit.
