If You Can't Afford Technics

I'm planning on starting out as a DJ pretty soon, but I have come to realize there is no way I can drop $800 on 2 decks right off the bat.

Yes, I know they own. Yes, I know I'll be bitter and want them forever. But I can't afford them right now, so I need something more budget efficient.

Could I get a good pair of decks for like $400-500?

for $500 u.s you can get pretty nice tables... it wont be techs or anything like that but def. you can find GOOD ones out there. you can probably get numark pro tt2,gemini pt2100,pt2400,sa2400,stanton str8-80. look around... you can find them for pretty cheap prices if you look hard enough... good luck

If you really really really can't afford Technics, then I would reccommend the Gemini PT-2100. These are very solid decks, good build quality etc. Not as good as Technics, obviously, but then they are a lot cheaper!

So your saying it's bette to wait maybe 1-2 months later to buy technics, instead of getting just good decks and learning on those, then buying technics later?

If it's a matter of only having to wait 1 or 2 months in order to be able to afford Technics 1200s.......as opposed to buying something less right away........you would be a fool not to wait. It would be worth it to have to wait 6 months...or a year, if that's what it would take to get some Technics.

I got a chance to check out Gemini PT-2410 last weekend. I must say they are pretty nice. Very good braking system. Enough torque for me.
I also checked out Stanton 100, man, they sucked! I donno, maybe just that one was so fucked up, but the braking system was just FUCKED UP!!! Gemini PT-2410's had more torque than stanton's as well...
Numark TT-1 aren't bad too. You can get them for about 150 each @ www.hollywooddj.com

What makes the Technics so much better then a solid turntable like the Gemini PT2100's?

I could get a pair of Gemini's for $400, Technics are $800 minimum. Is it really that humongous a difference?

you wont know till you try...trust me, nothing compares to technics
Geminis = "The Wheels of Cheese"
Technics = "The Wheels of Steel"
