last week I got Airscape-L'esperanza from chemical records, and its badly warped. Actually the record looks flat, but its got a hella lot of the warped sound, you can hear it speeding up and slowing down.

soooo I wrote to chemical, they said that they will send me a new one and pay the shipping costs for me! good deal for me!

You might not be any better off with the second one...

I had this problem with Cygnus X - Superstring. I took it back to the Virgin Megastore where I got it, and they didn't have another copy so they gave me a refund. I later found another copy of it in HMV, so I bought that, and it had exactly the same problem.

What I think it was, the two records must have come out of the same production line, and some blithering idiot managed to load the negative cast off centre or something. If you look at the record as it's spinning, if you look at the last groove before the leadout you'll probably see it wobbles, and the tonearm prbably goes backwards and forwards as it plays. If so, then I doubt you'll have any luck with the secod copy.

the tonearm does weave side to side...shite

well if I get the second one and its bad, ill ask for credit on another record

same thing happened to me with juno with Destination Sunshine, i havent got the record yet though.

is it the xtravagenza release? because my tone arm wobbles a little but the sound is fine.. but i got my copy almost a year and a half ago..

yep. my doesnt wobble at all but its "speeding up and slowing down" just slightly and it sounds dumb

yea chemical-records are absolutely amazing. I ordered about 7 vinyls from them, including Delerium - Silence. Anywayz, they got hold of 6 of my vinyls but could not get hold of delerium - silence. They asked me if was willing to hold while they tried to get it for me. I said yea no probs, and a few days later they got back to me with a really apolegtic email saying they could not get it for me, and would i like to choose another vinyl. So i chose reeloop - fucking society. All my vinyls came within a couple of days just as always all in good condition. 1 week later they sent me delerium - silence with a letter saying, something along the lines of were sorry we let you down before and hope this makes up for it, giving me the vinyl for free. i was well chuffed. This is my all time fav record store. Recommend it to everyone whose unsure about vinyl shopping on the internet.
