Now that I've caught your attention, it may seem so true altogther...take a listen to Sasha - Ibiza GU Cd and most of the tracks are melodic trancers...
Having been to Sasha & Digweed's gig last week at KoolHaus (Toronto), I must say that Digweed was the amazing one....he's tore the whole place upside down with his percussion-styled tunes..simply amazing....there's no doubt about this man's track selection and mixing is flawless...
No doubt that Digweed has became my favourite DJ overnight...
Anyways, do you regard Sasha as a trance DJ? I've always felt that Sasha loved melodies as much as the crowd...but tend to distance himself from trance as it was getting overhyped...IMO, he's got 101% trance blood in him...lol

sasha is progressive 100%. Its just that a few years back proggy was more melodic than it is now. last 2 years its got all a bit deep and dark (which isnt a bad thing - and you can blame the over-commericalism of trance for that).
theres good proggy and boring proggy. and theres good trance and a shit load of ultracheese.
i think half the problem nowadays is peoples obsession with 'genres'.
its like people going around saying they love 'progressive trance' when theres no such thing. anyway,if a track gets you dancing like a nutter, who cares what it is.
Who cares about genre !! Whatever done by Sasha is amazing !! Prograssive / Trance / House ! U name it ! Sasha knows how to deal with real electronica music !!
his old-as-hell club intenz mixes are all trance. no prog.
starts off with a recently popular (w/ pvd) track too, woohoo

One of my favourite DJs, definately. And I'd agree with keke here; this man knows his shit! Everything he touches seem to turn into gold, and I'm absolutely sure his new GU CD will be worth the buy, whatever the bloody price.
Oh and yeah, there IS such a thing as prog trance. How else would you classify James Holden?

he plays music he likes to spin and music he likes to hear.
so most of it ends up being Progressive Trance.
