Weirdest death I've read about in a while.

I've been reading up on the objectivist philosophy since I'm about to start reading some Ayn Rand. I decided to read up on Nathaniel Branden, one of the originators supposedly...

in regards to how his second wife Patrecia Scott died...

From Wikipedia article on Nathaniel Branden

In 1977, Scott unexpectedly died at home. Branden found her in the pool. The cause of death was thought to be an epileptic seizure triggered by sunlight off the water in the pool while feeding their dog.

Neat. And meh, I'm not going to necessarily wholeheartedly support her ideas, but I feel as though I should read up on them. I've done so with other people, why not her?

The Fountain head is one of the 10 most important books ever written.

Little known fact: it's the sequel to Croutching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

No, no, sorry, I didn't mean to criticise you or anything, that was just the first thing that came to my mind when I thought of Ayn Rand (but there's nothing wrong with reading her ideas - quite the contrary, actually, I believe it is a good thing).

She is pretty much philosophical tap water, I'll cede. Since I had a notion that this thread would head to philosophy, who are you personal favorites?

In continental philosophy, Heidegger and Sartre.
In analytical philosophy, Austin and the early Wittgenstein (never really read "Philosophical Investigations", all I know is that it is strikingly different from his first book).

On 24 March 1975 Alex Mitchell, a 50-year-old bricklayer from King's Lynn, England, literally died laughing while watching an episode of The Goodies. After twenty-five minutes of continuous laughter Mitchell finally slumped on the sofa and expired from heart failure. His widow later sent the Goodies a letter thanking them for making Mitchell's final moments so pleasant.

I know, I'm not entirely tongue-flappingly retarded. I'm just saying that it would be rather odd to see someone feeding a dog outside by the pool, then they suddenly break out into a seizure, flop about, fly into a pool, and seizdrown. I'd probably laugh a bit before I attempted to lend a hand.
