i always feel its a pain in the ass to guess what tracks are what..

house... trance... techno

cant there be like @ least an option that poeple can click and it will show besides the name of the thread or something? i like going and fidning things, but i have to download so much stuff and then i figure out its something i dont like... a style i dont like, and have to delete it, wasting their bandwidth and my time.

the problem is that it'll just spark another whole genre war

whether that's better than the way it is now, though, is debatable, I suppose.

progressive trance can go into trance ..

prog , tribal minimal etc can go into house

i guess techno and hardcore can go into techno.. just to make it a bit simnpler for users... gah fucking elitist and genere wars :/

techno & hardcore are significantly different...and I can already see that one getting ugly.

Nevertheless, it's a good idea...just needs some way to minimalize the griping. There's no way to prevent it entirely.

Err, no.

The forum should stay the way it is. That way, there's at least a slight chance that you and others like you will get somewhat of a clue about the different types of electronic music out there. Why should producers/DJs be forced to have their stuff broadly pigeonholed just cos you're too lazy to dig through tunes like any other music fan would do?

i think id be easier for users.. which is what the forum is intended for... geez dont take it personally

maybe doesnt have to be mandatory, maybe optional

i dont see the difference between that and what record stores do....

classify things so its easier for the user.

If anything, it'll only make matters worse. People will make tunes and have no clue where to put it, and then people will complain when they hear a tune which totally doesn't fit with their idea of a genre.

Overlooking the fact that record stores suffer from the exact same genre label-problem, they don't expect the producers whose records they sell to state what genre their stuff is.

This basically comes down to the fact that you're too lazy to go through tunes like everyone else, and you wanting TA to change accordingly.
