need help with calculus 3 asap!!

im about to a)throw my laptop, book, and desk out the window, or b) drop this damn class once and for all. I hope someone out there has already taken this class. I will seriously pay if someone can get me out of this blackhole.

ok we've started on Least Upper Bound Axioms and my brain has given up. I absolutely do not understand this chinese language presented here. I'm supposed to determine whether (S) is bounded (which it is) and if so, find the least upper and greatest lower bounds. Here's the problem:

Let (S)= {0,3/2,2/3,5/4,4/5,..., n+(-1)raised to the n power/n...}

For all, n > or equal to 1, therefore the piece of shit sequence is bounded and that's as far as the drugs in my brain will permit me to go. I hate this class and I hate the world I live in.

It seems like you have a positive series. I assume you've used the tests for convergence already?

I can already tell that the series is bounded between (0,3/2) on the y axis. Graphically the series looks like a sine function that gradually flattens out to converge somewhere between 0, and 3/2. I'm not really sure what the problem is here or what you're asking but if you plot your series as a function you will see that it never gets higher than 3/2 or lower than 0.

I might be totally wrong though because I fucking hate sequences and series.

Yea ive used the c-test a couple of times...but i think what confuses me (of course it's always been like this since day 1 in this class) is how they are asking the question. How did u automatically notice that it was a sine function and not a cosine? thats where im getting lost a bit because it is a bit different when dealing with cosines. also, is it always (or i guess sometimes) going to be the case where the first and second numbers might represent the lower and upper bounds? i agree with you about hating sequences.

btw, thanks a million jake.

here's another example of one of the one's that throws me off. how do u determine whether this is positive or neg to begin with? i can kinda tell it's bounded on the Y...but as far as it's lowest bound and where exactly it converges, i know not.

Let S = {x: ln x > 2}

I've had people tell me that diff eq is easier than cal3 but that linear algebra is the sucks.

I didn't automatically realize it is a sine function although it sort of is. Being that it starts at 0 like any other sine function then goes up to 3/2 then down then back up to 5/4 then back down ad finitum while osscilationg about the number 1 it seems to me like a sort of sine function that is bounded by the first two terms.
