sound cleanup.

yeah... theres a kink (or possibly several) along the lines somewhere... and from turntables to speakers... and sound quality is just not good...

particularly at higher volumes. granted... im sure that everything isnt helping... old ortofon carts, crappy numark 3001x miver, desktop stereo system thats a few years old... but either way... when the volumes up, the highs sound... too prevalent. i wouldnt call it "hiss", but the sound just doesnt sound full... kind of airy sounding i guess. or, although they're dj headphones (supposed to have more pronounced bass) when i turn my rpdh's up, sounds pretty much how i want it to sound...

either way... for my particular issue.. or just in general, how do you keep your sound clean, full, robust.. etc. also... considering my entire setup isnt great, which should i upgrade first?

hi mate

firstly try cleaning the needles to see if that helps at all.

It is sometimes tricky to find where problems lie with audio hardware but there are a few main things you can do.

Try to listen through your headphones directly from the mixer to narrow things down to your decks, mixer set-up and then move on to your outputs if you cant seem to find anything there.

The cables are often a big problem with set-ups which can ruin things for everything else in the loop of your system.
If you cant seem to find much wrong with the sound coming from your headphones on the mixer then its more than likely the connects between your mixer and the output equip.

see what you can find and let me know

hope this helps
