EFX-1000 connecting to Xone 62 or other mixer with only 1 efx send

Well i just purchased an efx-1000.... and i look at my mixer, ecler smac pro-30, and it only has one efx send (or input?) on the back. either way... my mixer's channels are beginning to lose sound in certain channels, so i was looking to purchase a new mixer anyways. my eyes have been on the xone 62, but then i noticed it also has only 1 aux send.

so my question is, for mixers that only have 1 aux send, like my smac pro-30 or the xone 62, how exactly would i route the signal so it would come back into the mix. my guess is something like... have the aux/eff send of the mixer going into the efx-1000, and then have the output of that coming back into the input of a different channel in the mixer, and using the fader of that channel to bring the effected audio in. i just want to double check to see if anyone else in the board has similar equipment and how they deal with the situation.

if its too crazy/complicated i might just go with a nuo-4, or nuo-5 which already has separate efx send and return built into the mixer. thanks for any help you guys can give.

I have an EXF-500 and a Xone:62. Here's a quick, basic run-down of how my gear is connected and how I use my EFX.

Channel Three: CDJ-800
Channel Four: EFX-500 Return
Channel Five: CDJ-800
Channel Six: CDJ-800
Aux Out: Goes to EFX-500

Say I have a track playing in channel three and have a track cued up in channel five that I'll want to effect. I turn the aux knob at the top of channel five up, at which point it will send to the EFX. When I want to bring the track in, I will use the fader on channel four. The new track will be playing on both channels, but only four will have the effects.

So I have that tune playing, and I want to bring my third track in and also use the EFX on that track. I'm cueing up channel six. I've got it beatmatched, and now I'm at my cue point. I hit play. I don't bring the fader up on channel six. Instead, I'll take the aux EQ on channel six and use it as a makeshift rotary knob. As I adjust it slowly, the track will begin to appear on channel four.

If you have a track going through the EFX, make sure you kill the fader of the original channel the CDJ belongs to, otherwise you'll have a nice flange going and it will sound terrible. In addition, if you have the EFX on do not bring in any new channels with the filter on. For some reason even if you have the aux of that channel turned to zero, if you turn on the filter it automatically sends that channel through aux and, subsequently, into your EFX.

Hopefully that makes sense and gives you an idea of what you're in for. It seems complicated at first but once you get the hang of it it's a piece of cake.
