A consistent ringing is tinnitus. By consistent, I mean 24/7. If this is something that just randomly came on, then it's probably caused by your sinuses, blood pressure, or both.

Get some nice earplus here: http://www.etymotic.com/

$12 a pair. They don't muffle the sound, just lower it. I never step foot in a club without them.

This happened to me before, but it goes away. However about a week ago this god damned 860kHz sine wave has been invading my right ear and sometimes won't go away for hours and I have to mask it with a fan.

Ringing in the ears makes sad for jake.

I've had tinnitus ever since I was a kid. I don't even notice it anymore unless I really concentrate.

Anybody who is around loud sounds of any kind should spend 10 minutes researching tinnitus. Every exposure over a certain volume and time period can result in tiny bits of permanent damage that add up over time.

Tinnitus is usually just like the ringing "sound" you get after a night of clubbing but it can eventually reach a point where it is permanent.

imo it comes from people who actually have a sensitivity to that frequency

it happens to you after a big night out when quite obviously you ears are damaged

but it happens to me from time to time but no one else seems to hear it, too.... generally is caused by a malfunctioning piece of electrical equipment... more often than not from a device trying to play sound from a channel at high volume when that channel has nothing being played to it.

ie: my cable box has it's own volume control... it happens to me a shitload when my folks turn the tv volume way up and leave the volume way down on the cable box

every now and then i get a high pitched noise inside my head. it happens for like 10 seconds and then fades away. it's not, like, loud to my ,like, ears, it's loud to, like, my brain.
at first, like, i thought it was my radeon 9600xt gpu, but, like, i underclocked it and i still, like, heard it. then i thought it was, like, my wireless g router, but like, my comp sci teacher says it's impossible unless, like, i'm a dog.
then, was, like, was it like, aliens?
or something like that?
