will you ever give up??

I'm not sure if can give up making tunes....but it has become very frustrating and seems like I'll never do. I look at a guy like Andy Moor and see that he is the same age as me and he has more songs under his belt than I have socks. Makes me think twice.

Do you think you will ever give up? just say fuck it and thats it?

Every single person has gone through that stage, is in that stage, or will be in that stage in the future. Nothing to worry about.

I won;t quit because I enjoy it and it's a hobbie. If it becomes more than that, then that's awesome, but if it doesn't, I still plan to release some things and keep doing what I love.

Though I'm sure everyone will agree that there are always those times where everything is a real pain in the butt. It's all part of producing.

Never gonna give up! In the last 15 years I think I almost quit twice, only comming right back to it, and loving it more! And when I get sick of it, I just do something alse. Sometimes I just need a few day's brake, but than it's eaven more fun. Just don't neglect other things in life, don't want to be sorry later. Try spliting you time between making music and other stuff. You're only young once, and i've seen to many music buddies spending few years in the studio, only to realize at a later time that: I don't have a girlfriend/wife since i was alvays home.. making tracks, I just have few releases, shit i am not that good, i can't make a living of this.. what happened to all my friends?.. geez i am 35 and got nothing except a nice computer and 4 hardware synths.. Living with mom still.. lol Anyways don't mean to scare you, but some people take some things to seriously, and regrets come later. Just felt like saying this to warn some of you that this can be addictive to some.. Remember that music can coexist with your real life

i feel where your coming from. im 25 and just learning computer music, and i look at some of these guys that are barely 20 and crankin' out hits, and start to think im to old to be getting started. i love music, always have and always will, but i have also have a thing for wanting to be great at everything i do. and some times i think that it just wont happen fast enough, and that i should focus my life on other things, that are more promising. but in the end i love trance and music in general, way too much to ever give it up. so.... id say if you love keep at it and do your best, but dont take it too seriously, live is just too short.

Yes, ive thought that many times, primary cause i look at the discographies of M.I.K.E, and L-Vee.

Although, i think u get to a certain point, when everything comes together for you, and you will be pumping out tunes.. But for that to happen, you have to keep doing what you`re doing.

I want to mainly give up, because my lack of Musical abilities, i cant play the keyboard, i cant play a melody i hear, i cant program synths and im practicly tonedeaf.

But somehow, i do manage to sew together an amount of tunes and remixes every year.

I tend to think that rather than as a passion, music production is a compulsive disorder for me. I can't go too long without it because I feel moody and disoriented. So I can't give up, because that would be like not taking my meds.

Someone's always going to be better and younger than you. But social comparison won't matter as much if you are internally motivated.

Why does it have to be so dramatic? Just make music when you feel like it, and don't, when you don't feel like it. Pointless to stress about it.

When you tell yourself 'fuck it, that its' then it really is it. People grow and learn at different rates. Andy Moor does what he does. You do what you do. It doesn't matter whether you get a record signed or a place in the industry when you are 19 or 40. What matters is the quality of your work and thats the only thing people will rate you on.

My advice: Never give up. I'll bet everyone here has felt like they were wasting their time at some point and that they should just give up. The important thing is to not do it and keep on working.

I find that I progress in production and sound design in leaps and bounds. That is, I spend weeks or even months on a mental block and suddenly I get a eureka moment and something works or I figure something out and it changes the way I work for the better. I never seem to make steady progress. Tough it out a bit and you will probably find you will get over that mental block. Just keep on learning new things and keep on practicing. Good luck mate.

Nah I think stressing about it can be good. When you get stressed about not making progress it shows you really want to get better. And thats a good thing in my opinion.

If I didn't have that drive to get better I might have plateaued a long time ago. I may even have given up like I did on so many other things (a career in writing for instance using my wasted BA in English as a stepping stone).

Also, D. Edge - GITS: SAC is kickass. The music for that series rocks my boxers off.

If it's fun, keep going. If it is a chore, stop, at least for a bit.

You should be doing it because you love doing it, regardless of how much money/fame/songs you end up with.

Exactly.

I got into this because I love doing it. Would I love for it to "get me somewhere"? Hell yes. But even if it doesn't, I'm not going to stop because I love music, and creating it. Everything else is just icing. Icing which I'm going to keep striving for, no doubt.
