Me and a comrade are hirin a car and driving around the west coast late aug-early sept this summer. Obviously hitting the touristy spots (mainly to say we've been to places ) but both really into the tunes and wondering, if there was a list of 'must see clubs', what clubs would be on it? Main cities we're visiting are San Fran, LA, San Diego, Vegas. My knowledge is painfully limited to Avalon (...due to the Sasha connection). Hit me...

for events in california check www.westoceanevents.com often. its updated at least once every couple of days. its very comprehensive too. it has links to the tickets pages along with dates, locations, who is playing and who the event is put on by. for dates at avalon and vanguard you can get on a list if you just ask around. there are normally threads with who to contact for whatever night you want to go to the week that its happening.

as orbital said, keep watching here for info on shows going on. giant normally brings in great djs on saturdays in LA, and they normally make the rounds through san diego and/or san fran for the weekend.
my favorite nights in LA though are mondays for the monday night social at nacional in hollywood. its a small intimate club and they tend to bring in really great talent every monday.

They booked Tiesto ONCE (but that was actually the P&H in San Diego), but they get deejays like Glaude, Christopher Lawrence and stuff. If you're looking to tantalize your EDM ears, then no, but you sure get tons of eye candy!

Don't forget to check out SPUNDAE, 2005 winner of Best Club at the International Dance Music Awards, and 2006 winner for Best Event Promoter at the IDMAs!!! Unfortunately, Spundae doesn't technically quality for Best Club and no award for Best Event Promoter this year.
And Spundae LA has been a Top 50 club in the world both years DJ Mag had the poll with the DJs!!
yeah, was looking at burning man yesterday actually. weighing up how much time we'd have to spend there though (...i'm a tourist remember lol gotta get the golden gate bridge in haha). i'm liking these ideas. spundae is on my list.
