problem with my mixer or my amp??? help!

Problem with my amp? mixer? help!

hey guys.....

I recently got rid of my 1200's and picked up a couple cdj 800's ....Now for some reason Im having a problem with either my mixer or my amp.

for some reason (when beat matching) what Im hearing in my headphones (if im listening to both channels throgh my headphones) is on but when I try to bring it in its a half beat or so off.....

is it possible that the settings on my amp are causing this?? is there such thing as a delay? or could it just be that my shit-ass mixer cant handle the CDJs???

any help would be much appreciated.

thanks.

I guess all you NEED to have is "the look"...technology takes care of the rest.

Just look like you are doing something, when actually you've got your whole set on the laptop.

heres the deal with the cdj's, they are gonna be off by that half beat or whatever you claim. so when you think u have it set in your headphones, you will try bringing up the fader and realize its off. that sucks but lucky for u ur cdj's have a cue point so once ur done beatmatching in the headphones hit that cue point to take the track back to where u want it to start from. now its all about timing, for my cdj 200's I hear the sound early in my headphones so i know to press play a little bit later when im bringing the track in on the speakers. it just takes a bit of getting used to, no loss in the beat match, u just have to learn to re-time it when bringing it in. confused? sorry

this sounds like a delay caused by the amp ... either that or you still haven't managed to perfectly beatmatch.

home receivers are known to process i/o and have minor delays. get a more bare-bones stereo home receiver for the amp or grab a more pro-audio live sound PA setup with some full-range speakers and a pro-grade amp.... but even then, you could experience delay depending on how it's all hooked up.

the last thing I can think of is that the main output of the mixer may be delayed, whereas they want you to use the booth output (if you have one) as it is a more direct and non-delayed output.

it sounds like a problem with the mixers circuitry. the best approach when dealing with these types of problems is to submerse the defective piece of equipment in water. next, plug the mixer in and then attempt to beatmatch your two tracks. when the problem occurs, you should see tiny camoflauged bubbles originating from the broken conductor. once you have located the problem, you should be able to spot weld the broken circuit with a light saber. be sure to allow ample time for the mixer to dry before welding, otherwise you run the risk of being electrocuted. i dont see how this is possible, you only sending one signal from your mixer to the amp, the problem has to be in the mixer or in your ears lol
