sideschaining problem(clicking sound)

hey guys i hope you can help with this. im using reason, and have a problem with the sidechaining effect. i have a redrum connected to a compressor and routed back to the mixer as an aux effect. but the problem is you can hear a bit of a clicking sound were the bass kick is being played in the redrum. i try adjusting the threshold and the ratio but i can get rid off the sound with out lowering the amount of effect.

anyone know how i can work my way out of this problem, im stumped. thanks for the help.

you mentioned changing the ratio and the threshold...but not the attack or the release?

i think the problem is in the attack or release

or maybe if the sound of the kick is the controller than the sound could be causeing the click......make sense?

still i think it's in the attack.

i try the attack and the release, and the bottons(i cant remeber what there called) ive moved everything to all possible sides, and still the click. i can get rid of the click but then the effect isnt noticeable enough.

Well if using a compressor isn't working, then the second best idea is to try just using volume automation. That's how they used to/still do it.

ASFSE is on the right track. usually the compressor is fighting the instrument or the kick in its release/attack. i would try changing the kick to something more punchy(shorter one shot length) or adjust the attack/release in the instrument (try the release first).

use a seperate kick track to trigger the sidechain. nudge the trigger kicks all a smidgen before the real kicks, or use an envelope to put a small attack on the trigger kics.

If the click sound plays when the kick drum is playin it could be as simples as the "click" button next to the tempo being switched on

I don't think that's the case here.
I ran into the same problem when I used Reason. I solved it by using a different kick for the sidechain.
