Does It Bother You? 1200/1210Mk2 Owners...

I'm talking about the pitch slider on the 1200/1210 Mk2 Technics turntables.

For those who don't know, on the Mk2 Turntable slightly "locks in", for lack of a better term, when set at 0%. When they released the Mk3 and Mk5 they solved this issue. The purpose of this was to remove the 'click' at the 0 point of the fader to improve the accuracy of the pitch fader.

What I'm asking is, basically to the 1210/1200 owners, do you find that the "click" hinders you enough to make you wish you had spent the extra dosh on the Mk3 or Mk5 or Mk5G, or is it something I really shouldn't worry about?

Cheers In Advance

J

more annoying than anything, especially on old mk2s when the pitch can vary quite alot around that little click. just have to pitch up or down a little more to avoid

gently shift the other deck 1/2% in either direction and the problem is solved. Sure it's be nice not to have to deal with it, but it's not problem I'd pay all that much to remove.

Doesn't bother me, you just get used to it, I'd rather not have it, but I just do what has been said above, move the pitch on the other track.

Never had a problem. Just move the other track around a bit to solve the issue as others mentioned.

The click itself doesn't do anything and can be removed - it's just a ball bearing sitting in a hole with a spring.
The variation that occurs around zero is due to the quartz lock. This can also be removed, tho I have not done it. I'm not sure if I really want to mess with the electronics that much - I'm still deciding. Apparently this fix will resolve your pet hate (second half of page):

I set mine so that they are zeroed correctly. So the 0 lock does nothing.

When I say variation, I mean touchy adjustment. Since my dex were new, they have had a quite inaccurate spot between -1/2 and +1/2 in that it is hard to spot it right, requiring the other deck to be moved (as previously stated above). The mod I linked to is supposed to make the transition around that point smoother meaning that the other deck need not be altered, but as I said I have not done it myself.
