Hooking Virus TI up.....

I have been all software until now so I'm really new (about a 3 hour veteran now). How are you guys connecting the TI to your PC?

I have it connected via USB exclusively now and I can get it to work, but I hear pops and such every once and a while. Should I connect it up via SPDIF to my Audigy 2 soundcard? Should I connect my amp for my monitors to an analog out? I'm really really confused here.

Also, what does using the TI as an audio device do for me? Pros/cons? I tried making it the primary audio device and listened to some MP3s and such and they sounded really garbled. I thought it might be able to completely replace my internal sound card....

Really really confused here.....

Adam

I run mine through S/PDIF, Virus Control is great and all but I can't figure out how to use it when you want more than two stereo channels. It seems you have to bounce to audio and then unload it to load a new instance, but then you lose all the settings in the plugin. It's too much trouble IMO. It's easier to just use midi + analog or S/PDIF and then record each track individually.

So what you are saying, is that its easier to use this baby the old fashioned way ? im drooling at this synth simply because of the USB Total Intergration thing, but if thats hard to use, I`ll rather buy and older model.

The Virus TI only has 2 Stereo outs when working with your chosen seq.

This is because it's audio is going over the USB. You can not get more than 2 Stereo outs when using Virus Control. You can bounce things down as prev mentioned.

You say you hear pops/clicks/etc. Have you tried to increase your buffer size on your s/card? What is your buffer size?

I use my Virus as my s/card. Output 1 is going straight to my mixer (L/R). It also has the option of input as well which I use to record my Korg Micro X.

Sonar won't let me bounce the audio from the Virus TI. I can control the Virus via Sonar with the VST plugin. I've decided to connect the Virus' S/PDIF connectors to my Audigy 2's digital connection, but the audio sounds horrible right now that way. Any suggestions there?
