1000mk3 or cdj 200

Quick question
If I don’t scratch it there any good reason to buy the mk3 over the 200?

Tricky one to say, a lot of people are going to say straight up 1000's, ive never used them. I do have the 200's and they are awesome cd players. I dont scratch obviously cos i cant however, the 200's make up for it by having 3 effects which with some imagintion and a decent mixer will combine to give some fucking awesome effects. If you like the idea of combining filters with echos and whatnot its a cool way to go, especially if you buy the djm 400. Those two go perfectly together for the aspiring bedroom dj, either way I'm luving it, and so will you.

Definitely 200s, esp if you want the 6% pitch at 0.02 resolution (which is the ideal pitch range and resolution for progressive house music, if you spin it). I'de say, you should also think of M-Audio's Torque, which works with CDJs or TTs or as a stand-alone mixing device with a Controller (kind of like Traktor mixed with Serato). You could also think of Ableton live (if you have a laptop) and a MIDI controller. That's the set up I am going to get. It's esp nice cause it gives you the ability to both produce, remix and mix. You could always use that along side CDJs though. If you plan to play out places, or do house parties or such, CDJs are ideal IMO.

1000's. I like the levels display of each track. Lets you know when breakdowns are coming. Also the jog wheel on the 1000 is wayyy better than the 200. Even though you can mix perfectly fine on a 200 wheel, the 1000 is much nicer. plus you can get the 1000 down to .01 pitch control, which some people like a lot.

id go with 1000 if price is not an option, if you want to save some bucks, go with the 200s. They are great decks.

these threads are getting a little redundant. its like comparing an audi S4 to a low-end ferrari. their both SICK cars but one is flashier with a couple extra things here and there...(and pricier). try before you buy its key.

^^^^ What Spawn said.

Clearly though if you can afford the 1000s it would be an odd decision not to get them......

I own 1000s and I've played on the 200s. I don't need the effect cos I own a DJM800. Personally I don't like the 200s, I don't like the jog wheel, and I don't like the way they skip pitch increments in .04 steps occasionaly when they should skip .02. When compared to a 1000 this is a really bad drawback.

If you can afford them, get the 1000s, if not the 200s are very highly regarded and if i had them it would just be a case of adjusting to them. Undoubtably you'll be delighted with either purchase.

Not really...

The 200's and the 1000's have the same pitch increment values. Although I have heard some people complain that on the 200's it's very hard to get the pitch to exactly .02%, as it jumps to the next .04%.

Well you know what? My two year old CDJ-1000 MK2's are starting to do that too, it just happens. .02% is a VERY tiny pitch increment.

Therefore, the CDJ-800's aren't a bad choice even though you can only go down to .05%, because that is basically where you'll be with the 200's and 1000's anyway. And with the 800's, you get the VASTLY better jogwheel over the 200's.

You should be able to mix on CDJ's with .1% increments no problem. And if you can't, good luck playing on vinyl where the pitch slider isn't nearly as accurate.

So not just bad advice!

Comparing the 200's to the 1000's is a little odd though, considering the 1000's are almost FOUR TIMES the price.

true on most accounts. and in fact although it is strange to compare both big brother and the baby of the cdj family tree, anyone who has played on both would know they are TRULY COMPARABLE! yes the 200's are that good. and i have also experienced pitch jumps on the 1000's because 6% is so accurate. the pitch slider isn't that much longer on the 1000's than the 200's so you need steady hands. it's really not a big deal and i feel like this topic should be closed as opinions are getting in the way of facts.
