[Soundtrack/Score] Allied Nations - Moving Through Cold Thoughts (Finished w/ Video)

Just a soundtrack im working on for an abstract new media project... This is just the sound at the moment, so it is extremely incomplete in terms of being a final work, but would love some audio only feedback on it.

I will be mainly using patterns and colours in the video, few if any recognizable things. Also, any ideas on how i could push the visual element would be really helpful

dailymotion of course fucked with the image a little bit , but at least the sound is in sync, youtube was wack.

I thought it was very beautiful and rich...

My only criticism is that it seems very tinny. I know that this is in some cases a desirable aesthetic though and that you're a musical enough guy to have done it on purpose, but I feel like there might be more atmosphere particularly on the low end, ie depth.

but like i said, i understand the reason if this is purposeful, especially if this has a visual component.

and then again i am obsessed with atmosphere and depth haha

EDIT: after repeated listen I might retract everything I said.

my first intuiton with the visual aspect at the beginning was almost like bands of color ala VHS tape with bad tracking that are like the vibrations of a tuning fork, they split and merge with the sound and have a sort of momentum based on the reverberance. Personally I would conceptualize it as a dialogue between clear and obscure, that is clarity of color, and then the pattern would be more of like a moire pattern which oscillates between clarity and obscurity with the reverberance and timbre of the music. And then use color as a sort of moving theme that progresses or changes through the entire thing and loops back around.... I feel like this might be too obvious or cliche though? not sure on it

This is intentionally vague: I see something stringy with gravity in as a vector in the video. Again possibly it would vibrate like a string or split and loop, etc

nice work

Great commentary.. I had a lot of similar ideas about the relationship between colour and the sound... Fuck cliche seriously It's all cliche, it's all been done before etc etc etc... I'd rather just focus on my work.

Uploading a what I'd call much richer version

Thanks again for your thoughts!

This reminds me of late 70's experimental type stuff. Feels very 'bright'. Not sure if that was intentional. Lower and deeper sounds tend to invoke an impression of a darker color. Nice work

I wanted it to sound very upfront and crisp for the connections ill be making to the video... overall i wanted the vibe of the work to be positive but not uplifting. I aimed for lingering hints of winter and darkness as well. If anything it's an expression of the gray area im feeling right now on the cusp of spring... still fairly cold with snow on the ground, but an overall awareness of the warmth which will inevitably follow this period.

Thanks for the comments

This sounds really cool.
Can I use this as background music in my rpg?
It's open-sourced and completely free and this is really cool as a soundtrack.
Of course you'll get your credit
What did you use to make it except E-Phonic Lo-Fi?

There are no bad critics on this one.

10/10
