whats the best dj software?

Hello everyone, I'm a starting dj, and I'm looking into buying a professional dj software. Now I have been surfing around and came across several dj programs which some of them were ok and only a few were good. I have read reviews about them too, some of these programs are

club dj pro
numark cue
mix vibes dvs pro
traktor
virtual dj
future decks

to name a few, now from these, I read that mixvibes and traktor are the best around on features and functionality. I played around with mixvibes, traktor, virtual dj, club dj pro, numark cue. from these programs i found out that numark cue and virtual dj are virtually the same program, only virtual dj costs $40 and numark costs $400... ...anyways club dj pro sucked and virtual dj is ok, but it works really bad when you slow down a track, it starts to move the track around and the beats start skipping and its a hell to mix 2 tracks. The only program that I could mix decent enough is mix vibes and traktor. but for my taste, i liked mixvibes more.

Now there might be a better option out there that I have not come across yet, anyone know a better option that I can invest my money on? mixvibes is a $300 program and I dont want to spend my money to find out there was a better option, I want to make an investment and make sure that I got my money worth, 300 isn't a number that I can be throwing around like nothing.

I'm also planning to buy hardware that works with the program like the DAC-3 or the hercules dj console mk2.

any suggestions, comments, anything?

+1 to Ableton...

but everyone will tell you, that only thing which matters is if the software suits the way you like to work/mix/beatmatch...whatever...

if it works well, it's the best you can get.

For someone it'd be Serato, for someone Finalscratch, for someone torq but for me it'S all ableton...

actually the crowd doesn't care what you mix from anyway

and those who care are just people who like to be nosy and shit talkers...

You can use Ableton to mix live, there are many people on the forum that use it, me being one of them.

I'm not sure if the demo version comes with the lessons, but if it does take a look at the 'DJing with Live' one, it might help you out a bit.

Otherwise, head to www.abletonlivedj.com, some good info on there if you don't mind reading a lot.

Another program that you might want to check out is Deckadance - very similar to Virtual DJ, except with a better interface and quicker response time, imo.

It's made by Image Line (same people who make Fruity Loops).

Edit:

I've used the hercules dj console mk2, and was relatively surprised at how much fun you could have with it when combining it with Virtual DJ. That said, I would never rely on it outside of a house party just because of weird responses I got from it, and how slow virtual dj runs to begin with.

Without a doubt, get Ableton Live. Not only can you do some really cool mixes and live editing but you can also make your own tunes if/when you decide you wanna go down that route.

It's got massive support from all the major midi controller manufacturers with most offering default Ableton settings straight out of the box.

You might have to put in a bit more time initially warping your tracks (about 20 seconds per track) but once that's out the way, you can mix pretty much anything together on the fly without having to worry about beatmatching. This then leaves you with loads of time to be creative.

Personally, I get loads more enjoyment using my CDJ's but if you wanna go down this route, you wont be dissapointed with Live.

I'd advice to try it first...Ableton is not for everyone (though I'm an ableton user) I can understand why someone might prefer traktor or something similar...it's just different type of layout and everything...

so try yourself...
