ANTIX - Iboga Records
ANTIX
Somewhere back in the late 1990’s brothers Barton and Hayden Strom, fresh faced and with a love for electronic music, formed the soon to be world famous outside New Zealand – ANTIX. Iboga Records in Denmark got whiff of the Antix sound and promptly signed the two brothers who then produced their landmark debut album “Lull” in 2003. The album won over fans and critics alike, ticking all boxes with the media and generating a string of killer live performances. The brothers werebuilding a solid reputation as one of the most indemand progressive acts on the planet. The touring trend followed as the boys started clocking in big festival dates to crowds in excess of 10,000 and performed in some of the most respected clubs worldwide.
Quite possibly New Zealand’s most well traveled artists after performing live in over 25 countries over the past 7 years. Follow up albums often have a lot to live up to and when “Twin Coast Discovery” was released in 2005 the album demanded attention and once again placed Antix as ambassadors on the world stage.
Shortly after, Twin Coast Discovery was re-rubbed by a selection of the finest dance floor hooligans and the remix album contains seven remarkable re-edits from the likes of progressive wonder duo D-Nox and Frank Beckers (Vapour, Polaroid), Fitalic (Bedrock) and label mates Freq, Phony Orphants, Sun Control Species, Ohrsten Nors as well a bonus track by the brothers under their alter ego Fiord.
Recent remix’s for Pitch Black, The Fanatics and the Fiord edit of Rhian Sheehan’s Hiding Place released on the biggest selling dance compilation to date: Love Parade 2006, prove that the lads really do have the Midas touch.
The brothers are aiming to raise the bar even higher this year, with another Antix studio album titled “Wanderers” due in June. Always evolving the brothers have taken their sound to the next level, keeping to their Antix roots of deep atmospheres, infectious bass and minimal grooves but this time, with a hint of old skool flavour, unleashing a new level of production. Last but not least is the exciting development of fresh material under their Fiord alias, which promises a unique and abstract approach including vocals, live instruments and collaborations. Look for this one on the horizon.
