Just a thought...
Could there be anymore room between the crowd & the DJ, maybe everyone should bow to really give it the effect it's going for. Yes my statement sounds a bit ornery I guess it just bothers us sometimes that the EDM scene is shifting its focus from the music driven to the DJ($$$) What I mean is DJs are like celebrities now & going to a big EDM event is like going to a concert, when all we wanna do is dance.
Yes a talented DJ with passion for EDM music is essential along with his/her ability to reach the "audience" & connect, which I find almost impossible to do in that type of setting. Don't even think about dancing unless you wanna stick around until the headliner is off & suddenly everyone disappears as if the music has stopped. Don't get me wrong I am glad EDM is reaching so many people but amidst all the agents, money, crowds, & voting list it seems the real focus of it all, enjoying the music is sometimes compromised just to see that big DJ whomever he may be.
We love seeing all the top DJs as well as MANY others, but if its so crowded that you can pratically taste the sweat of the person next to you, we are outta there, ************ of who they are.
I guess I just wanna feel that the DJ I am going to see is spinning because he loves the music so much that he expresses his love through DJing, rather then his only here because his agent told him that's where his playing. It seems like it becomes so routine that it's no longer viewd as a passion but a job. I don't know though you can never genralize, perhaps it is so for some & not others. I know it always comes down to making a buck & we all gotta get paid some how, but please tell me how it got to be that some DJs are getting paid $20,000 to DJ for 2-4hours.
