Set of the week comes from Dallas resident Gerard Hanson, aka Convextion, whose cuts makes us ashamed that we haven't been paying attention to dub techno of late.
Lord, it feels like such long time between great dub techno sets these days. The latest set by Texas resident Convextion renews our faith: not only is it dub techno with huge, washing synths that’ll create dry ice out of nothing, but there’s a bit of electro and breakbeat backing the idea up, as well as a few surprises to keep you guessing. Convextion’s just back from a big night in London where RA spotters noted clubbers converting to the cause by the row. You know the drill: He channels Basic Channel, he releases on rated Detroit imprint Matrix Recordings, and he’s been around the block and back and none except the purist trainspotters were in on the secret.
