Advice on taking CDJ's abroad

Hi everyone,

I've got this gig abroad this weekend so I have to catch a flight from the UK, but this place doesn't have CDJ's. So I was wondering what the safest way to take my CDJs with me abroad is?

I have a pair of CDJ1000 mk2's with a pair of proper flight cases, but I was wondering if it would be best to take them with me onboard or to put them through checkin?

Any ideas?
Cheers,
Simon

simply paste some fragile stickers on yo flight cases so they dont pack anything on top of them..i dont think they'll allow you to take them as hand luggage bcoz of the weight.

Carry on luggage

You can only take one carry on piece departing the uk at the moment (GAY) but you are allowed an extra SECOND piece for musical instruments. That is the ONLY thing you are allowed in the second bag though.
I did it last week departing LHR with my vestax handytrax portable turntable in a second bag. Tell them its a musical instrument and kick up a fuss and ask for a supervisor if they get shitty.

If you get a UDG slingbag trolley, you CAN fit two cdj1000s in there no probs. Ive done it myself. And that JUST fits in the carry on sizes and definitely fits in every overhead locker going (including the upper deck on a 747 which is possibly the smallest locker going).
my slingbag trolley goes everywhere with me and not had any issues with it yet.

If you put it in the hold you are fucking crackers - even in a flightcase. They dont call it theifrow for nothing...

Guys, especially Freak.. Thanks for the advice. I've already got a large UDG bag with the option of the trolly section underneath. I might take that idea up and carry the cdjs with me.

Although there's 3 of us going over - so between the three of us I guess we can carry the stuff with us..

I've had the "priviledge" of working with these baggage handlers and I can tell you those stickers really don't mean shit to them.
