Question about Korg maintenance and parts (Korg Electribe EMX-1)

Hi everyone, I am having a very annoying issue with my Korg Electribe EMX-1, the "OSC EDIT 2" knob is acting crazy, it keeps setting the value at a minimum, if I set it at a different value it immediately goes back to the minimum, so the knob is faulty, I called up both Korg and a local Korg authorized repair shop in the Cleveland area and I was told it's an encoder issue, I was told that it will take two weeks to order the part and get it and the cost for me is under $100, most probably as I was told it's $65 for the fix (parts + labor)

So I was just wondering am I getting a reasonable deal?
I am out of warranty anyways so can I obtain the part myself and save on labor (Electrical Engineering is one of tmy majors after all )?
If I can where do I get it from?

Thanks In Advance
DJ BERKAT
