It's visually dazzling. The colours are so sharp you may just cut your eye open on them. It's crammed with familiar Mushroom Kingdom characters. The writing has all the silliness and wit we've come to expect of the series. It's huge. And, in the perspective-shifting mechanic, it's got a fresh and breath-catchingly ingenious central idea that, in Intelligent Systems' hands, is exploited in a bewildering array of ways.
Simply: it's brilliant - and one of the best games we've ever played.

looks very nice...Mario can view levels from a third dimension, giving access to places otherwise unreachable. You can finally play through some of the classic 2D levels of the earlier Mario games from Mario's perspective
rofl checked out some of the videos on youtube about it
doesn't look too bad
hah and one was one of the developers talking about it at E3 or something of the sort, and he was like 'yeah, its a huge game, we're talkin 25-40 hours of gameplay
and i chuckled, cause the last two games i played were zelda:twilight princess for the wii, which i put a good 70 hours into, and elder scrolls 4 for the 360, which i put easily 80 hours into
25 seems ridiculously short:/
Actually, most of the RPG elements have been taken out of the game. Despite the name, it bears little resemblence to the Paper Mario RPG's of the past.
This is a pure Mario platformer...with a twist!
All Mario games have solid controls and plenty of fun gameplay, and it looks like this one combines the best of both worlds (2D and 3D).
25-40 hours is a very good length for a platformer like this. I'm really looking forward to it.

Too early to tell, in my opinion. Even with the developers and Nintendo saying otherwise.
Got my copy last night and only had about 20 minutes of play before going to work. The 2D/3D puzzles are very clever and fun to navigate, and the controls are rock solid in both 2D and 3D. You'll need to sit through a LOT of text at the beginning (story), but once you get rolling and get a few pixie abilities, the gameplay is classic Mario.

In other news, I played the game for a whopping 3 minutes at the Nintendo World Store this past weekend. Intuitive controls. Simple. Fun. Would love to sit down and play it.
Will I purchase a Wii now?
Not just yet...

The fact that you don't own one already is a blight against all existence. I command you go purchase one immediately.
