Hello! Hi guys...

Hey everyone! Well, I need some advice, basically.

About 2 years ago I started doing hiphop online. I started making my own beats about 8 months ago.

I've always listened to mostly hiphop, but some mainstream techno (Prodigy, Crystal Method, Moby).

Well, about 2 months ago a friend played me a DJ Revolve cd (local trance DJ). The next day I heard "Voices" (I forget which remix. The one Sasha & Digweed did.) So I went and bought "Communicate" that day.

That day I came home and looked at Fruity Loops 3 a whole new way. So anyway, I've been working on some trance beats for about a month or so, and am getting tired of my hiphop gig. I'm wanting to move completely into trance.

I live in Gainesville, Florida and am hoping to go to Full Sail University in Orlando to major in recording arts. That shows how much I want to make music my life.

I need some advice from all you veterans about how to learn the most about the scene, who to learn it from, how to get into it, anything you can tell me about this underground world, inform me, please.

Thank You, Spykie...

Welcome to the World of Trance my friend. U will not want to leave... ever!! To get into the scene...try listening to the older stuff first so that u can get familiar with the original sounds of Trance....and follow it''s growth throughout the years. Go to the main music forum and search around the threads for posts or threads that read ... Classic Trance tunes..or Favorite classic sets.. stuff like that. I'm to lazy to post any.. Get familiar with all the sub-genres of trance (GOA, uplifitng/epic/melodic/dream, ambient, vocal, progressive, hard, etc...) and u'll appreciate the music even more.

I don't know anything about the scene in Florida...but I'm sure there are many TA's from there that could help guide u or direct u to the path of Trancedome.

I second the idea of getting to know the old stuff first.. there has been a lot of good stuff out there over the years and some of the classix get people jumping around like madmen at clubs..

For example:
Ferry Corsten played at Exit on Friday night.. at like 6 am, i was kinda getting tired and was jsut returning from the bathroom wishing 'I need another energy pumping tune right now, or i will fall asleep', when i get back on the dancefloor i hear the starting beats of 'Verachoca - Carte Blanche' (anno 1997/98 methinks) and i must say that song saved the night.. I was going crazy like a mofo.. wow It was the first time for me to hear that at a club and while i always liked to tune while dirving, i could have never imagined it being this good for dancing!!!

As far as old sets go I would suggest you go out and buy Transport mixed bt Paul Oakenfold. It is IMO one of the best compilations of all time (even tho Oakenfold has really slipped in recent years).

^^^ WERD!

"...and Trance will save you! Hallayuha! He has seen the light!...."

Good to hear m8. I would definitely listen older tracks to get a feel as to the music back then.

lmao, I like all types of music. I get kinda pissed when people hate on other types of music, like when hiphop heads say trance is gay, or some shit, or vise versa. Everything is reletive to what you can appreciate, and I appreciate every type of music I've ever heard, other than country, lol.

Anyway, I'll go get that Oakenfold set next time I go to tha store. Thanks.

Like I said up there^^^, any Florida TA's willing to give advice on best places to go for parties and places to get music and stuff? Anything would be appreciated!
