Hello!

What in your opinion are the producers in trance in general who manages to create dynamic tracks with space and warm feeling? First that comes in to my mind is Vibrasphere! Very clean sound and nice sound scapes.

Any other tips or opinions?

I think the best trance tracks are the ones who don't have such clean production. When everything is polished, not a frequency out of place, every possible space of the audible spectrum filled, it gets boring pretty fast. It's like a hot supermodel with no personality.

Vibrasphere is an excellent example yes.
I haven't heard that much by Lemon 8, but as I'm listening to Arrakis - Aira Force (Lemon 8 Remix) at the moment, I'd probably say you should check out her/his/their stuff. This track is sooo sweet! And the original is one bomb too!

I disagree. Musical 'integrity', depth, soul, whatever you want to call it, is not determined by how well the track is mixed, but if its mixed well, the listening experience is certainly increased. Most of the time, the result of these 'dirty' productions is simply lack of knowledge on the part of the producer. You can create a track to have the same dirty feel with proper mixing. That's just a poor excuse to validate someones inabilities.

A good track is a good track no matter what it sounds like. A polished turd is still a turd.

You're assuming that 'mixed well' = polished. I listen to stuff from the early 90s that sounds better than most of today's productions. Alot of stuff today gets over compressed, EQed and processed to death, to the point where it sounds like shit. Sounds aren't given any room to breathe and stand out, it's all about how many instruments you can stuff together. That is bad mixing.

Sounding raw doesn't make a track automatically better. But music that sounds raw is music that has nothing to hide. The best producers out there are good enough that they don't need to hide behind a wall of effects to disguise an inferior musical ability.

I agree with what u are saying.. older tracks before the 2000 sounds alot better than alot new of tracks, even there arent as much as half the elements in them.

Well mixed = polished. Polished to the point where on an acoustic level it sounds good, where as the track in itself has any musical integrity is a question on its own.

There's no question that there's very little dynamic room in music today because of the whole loudness race.

Sounding raw makes a track worse in my eyes (and ears). What you say sounds raw to me sounds unmastered, it's just a poor excuse to give it another word that circles around the fact that this producer either doesn't have the ability to mix properly or simply doesn't have the equipment to tell how poorly mixed their work is. Like I said, there are ways of making something sound raw without it being unmastered.

Music can sound good with any varying degrees of complexity, whether its composed of 1 instrument or 10. As the complexity increases, so does the need to be able to mix properly otherwise things start becoming messy. How messy is totally up to how well its mixed and mastered.
