Love Poundin' Sensation hearing protection

Please allow me to wax poetic about my newfound love.

Have I mentioned how absolutely wonderful custom fit attenuators are?
Seriously worth every single penny (just ask your ears!)

okok..

thoughts?

Are there any other hearing protection junkies out there, or do most of you guys go "sans protection" when clubbing?

I use the cheap Etymotic ER-20s myself. Haven't been able to justify the cost for customs but I would like a pair.

I have just got some custom fit ones and love them. Well worth the money. Kinda hard to make a living with your ears if you cant hear.

I have been planning on getting some. Sound Advice makes some really good ones that come in 9, 15, and 25db. I think I am going to get 15.

I use the nice two-sided combat earplugs they issue us. Put in one side, it cuts decibel level in half; put in the other, and it's dead silent. Form fits to the ear canal, but itches like crazy.

Any kind of hearing potection is better than none. I used to go sans hearing protection when I went to see DJs I really cared about...but nowadays I know a bit better. I'm 26 and I know that it only gets worse with age so whether I'm at the jobsite (I work in high rise construction) or a an event I almost always wear it.

I cannot recommend anything fancy or expensive. As long as you at least got the cheap shit, you are doing yourself a favor. When your hearing is gone...(ie permanent damage), its gone for good.

I dont have a wikipedia article handy but its like this. Your ears contain tiny hairs that allow you to hear. The older you get, the more brittle these hairs-in-question get. When these hairs get damaged, your hearing is affected to a degree, and this damage is irreversable. Ask any audio engineer and they will agree; so any hearing protection is better than none. I rest my case.

my friend's mom is doing research on reversing it, and apparently making some pretty good progress. I just hope she sorts it out before I go deaf.

I've been thinking about getting some version of ear protection lately. Anyone else have any suggestions other than the ones mentioned already?

Can hearing protection be used while DJ'ing? I worry about the volumne level in my headphones when spinning.

Just dont have the volume any louder than you need to. I also advise when not using the monitors during a mix, to turn them down.
