YellowStone National park advisory update.

http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2007/1071/of2007-1071.pdf

If youre wanting a long read and have some spare time read it. This techtonic structure is interesting in on itself due to the fact that if an eruption were to occur it would blanket the entire NA continent in 3 inches of ash, and perhaps accelerate or decellerate the "global warming" phenomenon on an order of magnitude.

this already happened when a volcano in Indonesia errupted and covered the globe in ash/smoke. it was the coldest year on record for many locations on Earth, becuse the smoke/ash caused less solar radiation to reach the surface.

Really interesting stuff...most of Yellowstone is actually a volcano (at least similar in nature to one) but doesn't look what we typically know as a volcano. I don't think if it erupted it would matter if it accelerated or decelerated global warming as we all would be dead. I can't remember how many megatons of force it would be but it would be much more than enough to wipe out all life on Earth.

I've seen a special on the Discovery Channel about this. Pretty neat.
