That's what copy protection usually means with CDs.. they try to make it harder for us to copy the music off the cd, hence "copy protection". D'oh! There are several forms of copy protection, use google if you wanna know what they are.. most of them are designed to prevent direct access to the the audio files on the disc but some are so lame they do absolutely nothing.
In a typical case without any further knowledge about the issue, when the CD is inserted into your computer's CD/DVD -drive, you are usually only able to just listen the music thru a crappy player which came with the disc, possibly even in a lower quality audio format. But there are various CD ripper softwares which can go round the copy protections easily. Just try some other software you are using now. Also depending on your CD/DVD drive, the easyness of access into the disc varies. There are softwares to go around even the hardest copy protections, just google, i'm too tired to find them all for you.
