All you have to do is install that, press record and play the track you want to rip. It will record the audio for you. Simple way of doing this, if you can't get around the protection.

That's what copy protection usually means with CDs.. they try to make it harder for us to copy the music off the cd, hence "copy protection". D'oh! There are several forms of copy protection, use google if you wanna know what they are.. most of them are designed to prevent direct access to the the audio files on the disc but some are so lame they do absolutely nothing.

In a typical case without any further knowledge about the issue, when the CD is inserted into your computer's CD/DVD -drive, you are usually only able to just listen the music thru a crappy player which came with the disc, possibly even in a lower quality audio format. But there are various CD ripper softwares which can go round the copy protections easily. Just try some other software you are using now. Also depending on your CD/DVD drive, the easyness of access into the disc varies. There are softwares to go around even the hardest copy protections, just google, i'm too tired to find them all for you.

you *could* try this. I've never run into a problem with audio discs, so i have no first-hand experience with cracking it

WMP11 can do it for you. Just rip it to your PC and make sure that in settings it's set to MP3.

just get exact audio copy. best ripping program there is and it's FREE!
http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/

i've only had problems ripping 2 cds with it. and i currently have, according to discogs, exactly 1000 cds. so that's 0,2% i've had trouble with. not bad.
the program has a ton of settings you can control too and it might be a bit of a hassle to set up because of that. but once it's set up properly it works like a charm.
and i'm almost certain that the single you have doesn't contain any copy protection, it's just that there's the music video too so your computer doesn't show you the music files, only the data part of the cd (because windows is gay like that for some reason).
