help finding midi hihat groove files

Hi All

The seq i use dont have a groove quantise / shuffle /swing function and I really need a midi file of a 16th note hihat pattern thats been shuffled prob only slightly to give it a little movement.

Does anyone know any place i can d/l something like this from?

What do you use? You can open up a midi with shuffled notes but you can't program the notes that way yourself? Seems strange.

Reaper - its still a young seq so they haven't implemented any kind of groove tools for midi and i'm not that good at playing a 16th hihat pattern live lol

Suppose i could use loops or try to extract the groove from a loop. Not sure if I have a suitable sample but i'll give it ago!

You can already
a) hold in shift and move the notes
b) turn snapping off
c) increase the grid resolution

Each will do the job, no?

Use recycle to extract the timing from a loop. It will generate a midifile of ascending notes, but with variable timing. Simply force all the notes to the same pitch, et voila instant groove extraction. :-)

Recycle is a great tool, and highly recommended.

Hey mate, I've quickly done some 16th note hihats in 40%, 50%, 65%, 75%, and 90% swing mode MIDIs in FL

Hope it helps!

Props to harris for posting some files! I would do this by going down to a 16th third grid and then shifting all the notes ahead one step. Or a 32nd even, whatever works. On the other hand this may not help and you may be better off using one of the other methods here

Awesome wasn't expecting that, not at home but ill grab then when back. Thanks for that!

Seeing as two ppl suggested it I'll have a go at creating a rythmn by hand too. However in the past when ive tried its always been too loose as i prefer my sounds to be quite tight. However a slightly shuffled hihat pattern will go well over a tight beat im hoping

I don't have a loop of the kind of effect im after but ill look into recycle and maybe even get into loop chopping and stuff

Thanks for all replies
