Be Cool! A Tail of Two Lizards

He's been there for several months. I know he overwintered in my greenhouse. Today I realized he has a hot wife. Bright blue tail. If I was a bird I would definitely try to eat her. I sat and watched them for an hour. They are very interesting creatures. I don't mind them much. They are colorful and eat loathsome insects. They will probably lay eggs soon. I wouldn't mind starting a lizard ranch.

I wanted to ID the species of this lizard. Google brought up UGA's reptile website. After looking around, I am confident they're in the genus Eumeces. As for which species, my best guess would be Eumeces laticpes.

This is a male. Very distinctive burnt orange head.

This is a female.

cools. Don't think I've actually seen lizard eggs before, for some reason.

I used to have a chameleon. He died, but was fairly entertaining for a while.

lol my gf's cat loves to torture the little lizards, it would like pick up the lizard with its mouth, bite it just a little, let it go, then torment the poor little lizard while its trying to run away

Be careful handling them like that. Depending on what kind of lizard/skink they are, their tales may disconnect as a defense to something grabbing it like that.

Cool looking though Good find.

My grandmother was really scared of them as a little kid. My uncle got a small lizard and he snuck up behind her and put it down her dress. She was so scared that she couldn't move so she just stood there and screamed.

I think my uncle got a good beating for it.
